Thought I'd share the info from Applied Ballistics mobile lab's personal drag model for my factory setup. It was a real treat to do the test with all their fancy equipment at the Nightforce ELR Steel Challenge last week. They had me shoot 10 rounds @ a very specific point on the horizon @ specific intervals while the radar & gizmos measured everything. The handwritten number is the g1 conversion - guess I was curious for context as that's the model I used to use & wanted to see the numbers for both when I went back through both profiles to see the differences after 500yds & so on. Fun stuff.

Im glad that when I bought my Bergara I bought enough of the ammo lot to shoot for the estimated barrel life. Wanted to run the same setup throughout for a couple reasons - to be as consistent as possible & secondly so that when I do try new later that I had less variables in my experience, for reasonable comparisons.

Anyway, guess my point was that it's not too shabby for factory ammo. Lucky lot maybe.

Thoughts?

Thats pretty cool, did they charge you to do that or were they showing off there equipment?

It was free. They came up special to do it for anyone at the match. Did 94 pdms that day for various competitors.

As a side note worth mentioning, Bryan Litz won the match.

Oh, what was interesting too is the base numbers weren't more than a few off from the data I had previously recorded from a labradar. It was nice to see that I had been working with accurate #s.

I listened to a podcast with those guys last week. Very interesting, very smart guys.

What do you do with that information?

Did they give the results only as a G7 BC, or did you get access to some sort of digital version that you can load into a kestrel?

I was told I can go online & retrieve the info & transfer it to the profile in my kestrel, yes.

I have an older model kestrel that I bought used (with link) but Im not familiar with the process of pairing my phone & am going to need to learn if its compatible with mine & how to & if so, how limited (or not) the benefit might be without the newest software.

A 5700 elite is on my wish list but up until now, the older model seemed adequate so I hadn't made it a priority. Unfortunately Im strapped now with some unexpected household expenses so Idk when I'll be able to upgrade.

I believe I have the option to do it all on my phone too but need to look into it. I don't like to take my phone to matches because Ive broken the screen twice when I have. Also think Id need to buy the app.
