View Full Version : camping/fishing locations
My friend is looking for a place to tent camp and fish with his family on his way to Cali. Any ideas of places in the forest north and west of Denver.
I have places down here in mind. My thoughts for down here would be Tarryall, 11 Mile or Taylor Park.
Thanks

I see lots of camping location along I 70 and I 76 in the metro area...is that not something he's looking for?
Not really. He wants the forest experience with a close lake to hike to with his kids for fishing.
There are places right off I-70 like Fall River Road that has what he wants, but they are SO close to Denver that the last time I was up there, it was a bit trashed. Loch Lommand would be better, but every time I send someone that way, the dang gate is closed. When is he coming? Can whatever he's driving handle rocky forest service roads?

Camp at Cache Creek near Granite, fish at Twin Lakes. Kids can pan for gold.

Don't forget to factor in the altitude.
May take a day to get used to the high elevation.
Enjoy!

There is a hot springs close to the area I suggested, near Buena Vista. If you are headed to California from there take the 82 road through Aspen to I-70 and west.

Another +1 for Mt. Princeton. Our kids LOVED the side when we stayed
