This is the most ridiculous thing yet. Ten cents per bag at the grocery store! Then a ban on them.

I am not sure why this is the one that pushed me over the top, but it had been a burr under my saddle since I heard about it yesterday.

I have decided I need to move. This state is driving me nuts and I don't see an easy remedy. Yes, the likely solution is to get involved, run for office, etc. but that has no appeal to me.

I need to get out while the home prices are high so I can cash out and buy a place where ever I decide to go.

So...

Where to go?

If you dont mind the snow. Go north. If you're also done shoveling most of the time head south.

I?ll concur with some of the other statements above. We moved back to FL about 3 years ago and can confirm that it is taking in more transplants from ?Blue? states that ever before. Time will only tell if they bring their voting habits with them, but I?m guessing they are going too.

I'd go to Sam's Club and buy a box of 500 of those bags for $15.00. Keep them in your car and bring them in with you.

Dont move because of politics. You wont win. The cancer is spreading throughout the country. IF you like Colorado, stay. I know people in states that have been conservative strongholds that complain about the takeover daily. South Carolina and Florida come to mind. Many states people just havent been paying attention. Colorado has had many many more democrat Governors since its becoming a state. It was never quite as conservative as people remember. (not militantly left though)

It doesnt matter how many gun owners or conservatives people think their states have. The big cities in all 50 states will always be able to out vote the rest of the state. It doesnt even have to be that many big cities to ruin a state. Colorado landwise is mostly conservative. However the 7 county metro area destroyed the whole rest of the state. Of course not everyone in those counties is a liberal and the majority still screws everyone.

Pick somewhere you like and stay. (unless you are the kind of person who just likes moving, in which case disregard the advice)

This.

Pretty sure the paper bags are still free. Or do what I do in Boulder when the self checkout asks how many plastic bags you have and just press the "No Bags" button..

Not for long. They jammed those on there too.

OP, good luck on your move.

I'd avoid states that are actively courting business from liberal states like CA & NY. The only thing that has done is bring more leftist thinking to those states. TX is a good example, where the political landscape, is very slowly shifting. As we saw in CO, but the activist have spent money and lots of time trying to get tx dark blue. Thankfully they failed in 20, but it's not a state i would recommend.

Sadly there is no "perfect" state, for gun owning individuals. Whose politics are right of center, usually voting R tickets.

AZ has a few blue strongholds. With that said. I am seeing a lot, as in a lot, of CA transplants. A lot of them have gravitated to the outdoor range i work at.
Granted there's some leftist in the state. But, the amount of "finally free to buy what they want" without a waiting period.
Combined with Constitutional & open carry, has really drawn a lot of gun owning, right of center refugees, here.

OK has potential, if you like fire ants and tics, but i believe that might be one of the last dark red states. I couldn't live there, based on numerous stays with friends, in various parts of the state. But that's my choice.

WY and SD are nice, as well as parts of MT. But you really have to like cold weather, like artic temps occasionally through the winter months Or as it's called in PC terms. A Canadian Cold front.

We moved back to Wichita Kansas (the city we're originally from) but we looked real hard at Rapid City, SD ... it looks like a good place.

Says the guy living in Wyoming [ROFL1]

Look, eventually the left will destroy everything. Moving because of politics isn't a bad idea if you decide to move to a place that will be part of one of the new nations that will rise out of the ashes of the USA when it falls apart.

Yeah...I don't buy the "don't move because of politics" angle, either. I've done it twice and it's worked well both times. You just have to think about where you want to go is all. Idaho and Oklahoma solidly went to Trump...64 and 66 percent respectively. Not a single county in Oklahoma voted blue. Even the large metro areas are pretty solidly red here. If you choose a different state that's currently nearly split politically, that's a different story. I'll be long gone before OK goes blue. We all will. Idaho, too, for that matter.

ETA: To the above... I wouldn't make that my sole consideration in moving. But it's definitely a factor to be considered. Otherwise, some areas of California would look attractive for a lot of reasons.

Regardless of what some people on this forum seem to think, there's nothing wrong with moving from a state for political reasons or otherwise. I did it to improve my standard of living. Twice... And it worked out quite well both times. I just looked at solidly red states before making my choice.

That’s one truth, with the earlier precursor for me being “when the kids graduate and move out”. I’m hoping to coincide those two things and retire when the youngest leaves home in 16 years.

That said, I have a hard time believing we will be in CO for 16 more years. I’ve been here for 15 so far and it’s blown up too much already… I totally understand why folks are taking their equity and leaving for cheaper housing markets.

This right here. More and more light blue or purple state are turning solid blue the same way Dems took over Colorado. MI, VA, AZ... Be prepared to see Texas turn blue or be too close next election. Move for jobs when the chance arrive, or buy property in other states that is cheaper than CO for passive income and asset, prepare for eventual move but don't just move for the politics.

AZ is far from solid blue. The only reason kelly won, McSally was a shitty candidate. We have more gun rights than CO and other states, all the way up to nfa items, of any kind. You can't walk down a street or enter a business in CO, open carrying. Here, no one looks twice.

We left CO primarily due to the liberal infestation, sucking the life out of CO ,and my wallet. The 2nd was traffic, plus we're both retired.
Down here i have 4x the land, outbuildings and property taxes are 1/3 of what they were in CO. I can drive 10 min and be on state land.
Instead of coddling the homeless, they're discouraged from hanging out. Down to, there's the road, we suggest you leave. Unlike CO where the bums litter the streets of denver, and ruined small business in Ft Collins, etc.

Is AZ safe, like most states, of course not. By the time if it does, go full tilt liberal. I'll be either too senile to know better, or a box of ashes.

It's you younger folks who are really screwed.

Arizona just completely banned trail cameras, all year long, not just during the hunting season. No state is perfect and guns aren't the only issue that matters.

I use that as an example of larger cities out voting the rural areas. It doesn't take much.

I travel a fair amount for work. Some of the trips are almost 2 weeks long so I stay in lodging with a mini kitchen. This necessitates grocery shopping. I regularly have to travel to CA (San Jose and L.A. areas). CA is one of those places where you're charged for any "one time use" bags you use. I was in both of the previously mentioned CA locales for 2 weeks each in March and when I tried to use the "0" choice for how many bags I had (because I wasn't using any of their bags) the self-checkout registers locked up and required an employee to come and override the lock up (and clearly to verify I didn't use any of their bags). I assume they'll do something similar here.

Not so much for me. I'm looking to retire in 5 years. My kids are grown and out of the house for 10+ years now. Moving away from them (and my grandkids which I enjoy seeing once/week) is the deal breaker for me. Unless I can convince them (daughter, son-in-law, son) to pull up stakes and move with me, I can't do it.... yet.

That's very much where we are at right now. I'm planning to be done with FT W2 work in the next 2 years at most. I'll go contract and PT and pick my battles and be retiring on 100% income. We have a 5 year old GS in San Antonio/TX where I just can't fathom living due to weather, and one here just up the road that's 6.

I like the idea of the area GK and OBC are in, but might be a tough sell with the wife who will still be working (Nursing) when I retire.

FWIW: they are desperate down here for qualified nurses. I know the rehab place i was at. Is offering up to a $10k signing bonus.

In the interest of scope, I should add that AZ is roughly the same geographical space as CO, however, we only have 11 counties. So think of 11 Weld counties here.

The only blue one is Maricopa...the home of PHX and pillow biting libtards.

And Pima, but fortunately other than petty local stuff (think mask mandates), I still remain unaffected by the libs here.

Funny how the slight change of wording makes it ok.

Not sure what I will do without the plastic bags - use them for trash and other things all the time. They work well for putting used oil filters in to take with the oil to the parts store for recycling for example.

It?s ok to buy more plastic bags, just don?t get them out to be reused as trash bags.

Inevitably when we travel to CA I forget about the bag tax, and end up purchasing a few, fortunately they are heavy duty bags and most definitely reusable. Said bags go in the trunk/cargo area for the remainder of the trip, and we are good to go. Not saying I agree with the tax, just that I have to deal with it from time to time (and I like the bags).

Sounds to me more like the neoliberal who decided s/he doesn't want to live with bums next door -- which fits in with the transformation taking place all across the South. Hadn't heard of that measure but I'd bet it started in the Raleigh/Durham area ...

I've only seen photos, and don't like them myself. Donut media has a video where they see how bad the visibility really is. The important part of the video is that the proposed law talks about all the accidents they cause. They called the state patrol and found that no one actually had any evidence of increased accidents. It seems like the government over there needs to f-off about it. Again, I don't understand that trend at all and assume it's just for looks.

I just read a news article that stated 44% of San Francisco residents plan to move in the next few years due to out-of-control crime. I'm guessing many will head to Colorado. If you think it's bad there now, just wait.

Retail stores are closing early in an attempt to keep their merchandise from being stolen and to provide for the safety of their employees. Cops can't take action against misdemeanor theft...thieves know this. What a shithole. Coming to a liberal run state near you in the future.
