View Full Version : A Happy Place
So, with all of the negativity and grumpiness in the world and with it seemingly getting way out of hand over the last year or so, I thought we could use a thread full of positivity.
If anyone has anything heartwarming or positive to share please feel free to post about it here.
Maybe you did something kind for a stranger? Maybe a stranger surprised you with an act of kindness? Maybe you experienced some sort of positive event recently in your life and just want to share the story?
Debbie Downers and Negative Nancys feel free to peddle your goods elsewhere.

So there’s this guy I know, although not very well. He always struck me as a no-nonsense man’s man. Don’t mess with him, he won’t mess with you. Piss him off, you will know. Man of his word, but not a syrupy sort.
Then he starts a thread for heartwarming and positive posts!
Now that’s heartwarming.

What a coincidence. Ray1970 just did the same thing right here!

Actually, all kidding aside, I ran across this YouTube video and thought it was pretty touching:

My older son is currently deployed. He and his wife have 3 youngsters-two boys 4 & 7 and a 20 month old baby girl. His wife has her hands full. Last weekend the boys spent Saturday and most of Sunday with me. We had a blast, they?re very easy kids for me. Went out for dinner Saturday night, back to my house, after baths we watched ?Bolt? while having ice cream. Sunday morning we went out for breakfast then to the park for some more fun times. Back to my house for lunch and fun with Legos before back to their home.
The outside world was a far away thought. My daughter-in-law looked well rested when I dropped the boys off. Excellent way to spend the weekend before going back to work.
The other day I was driving through my neighborhood and saw this guy out in someone's front yard. I pulled over to tell the guy it was awesome and asked if I could take a picture because my teenager keeps talking about wanting a snake. He said, "Just bring her over, I've got 20 more!" So I turned around and picked her up. He brought out a few.
This one is a 4 year-old male that he says only weighs something like 25-40lbs, it felt heavier when I picked up the front 1/3. He said you swear they weigh over 100lbs, then you take it to the vet and it's only 25lbs. I'd guess this one was at least 50lbs. His biggest is 18' and weighs 120lbs. He said he can't get that one out by himself.

Same 4 year-old male and 2 year-old female. Loved the color on that girl snake.

A guy on Armslist read my wanting 30/40 Krag ammo and gave me 36 rounds, just because he wanted someone to be able to get some enjoyment from it!

Part of the background music was from the film Patton. That warmed my heart.
Another forum I'm on has 2 long-running threads:
-What has MADE your day today?
-What has pissed you off today?

As you may (or may not) have heard, I went fishing @ Eleven Mile this last Saturday (July 10). Once done fishing as I was loading my gear into my truck I noticed a dog collar on the concrete wheelstop in the spot next to me. When I picked it up I saw it had several tags, including rabies vaccination, etc. on it - as well at the dogs name and 2 phone numbers. The rabies tag was for El Paso County and the phone numbers were 719 (My county & area code). While I didn't know if the owner was from Colorado Springs I at least hoped they were as I'd decided one way or the other I was going to get the collar back to the owner.
Once home I called the first number on the tag and left a message. About 1/2 hour later I received a call back from that number. Kayla, the woman who owned the dog, told me she was out of town and would be back on Sunday but that her parents had been watching her dog. They'd taken the dog to Eleven Mile on July 4th and lost the collar. She was thrilled the collar had been found and would be returned. She told me she'd come by and pick up the collar when she returned on Sunday. Sunday I got a text that her fiancee would come get the collar. When he arrived he had Layla, the catahoula beagle the collar belonged to.

Layla has a dog named Layla? That's pretty unusual. But, at least Layla (the dog) isn't naked anymore! Good for you for doing something nice.
[Whoops...the dog is Layla, the woman is Kayla....still confuses me -T]

The other day, I was cleaning out some no longer relevant photos from my phone, and came across pics and videos of my dog when she was just a puppy 16 months ago.
Clumsy meat hook retard learning about life....damn cute though.
It brought a smile to my face, and some warmth to my heart.

2 weeks ago I got a call about 6:30 a.m. from my 86 yr old neighborhood that she'd fallen and thought she'd broken her hip. When I got there she was half in and out of her back door on the porch. She didn't want me to call 911 at first. She was lying on a carpet and I had a straight shot to the kitchen so I pulled her into the kitchen. Trying to get her up in a chair was a nogo and I realized 911 wasn't an option. Westminster emt's were a fantastic team and got her into the ambulance and to the hospital. She was operated on the next morning and up with help and short walks on the next day and home the day after. 4 days away !!!! I continue to help her every day with chores she can't do. I'm not tooting my own horn here just want folks to be aware of seniors around you and keeping an eye on them if something like this happens to them.

Oh, I?m plenty guilty of being grumpy and spreading negativity.
Trying to make amends by giving everyone a place to focus on the positive things in life.
Here?s a fuzzy little bunny to prove my heart is in the right place. Placed him in a flower pot while I mowed and released him when I was done.

Wife saw a hawk take off carrying a snake.
Yesterday a robin got a baby snake.
She is HAPPY, she does NOT like snakes.
I like them.
Does this post meet your qualifications? Someone is happy. :D

Thru some quirk of fate I met a nice lady. We've been dating for almost 4 months. If she was a guy she'd be the type of guy all the other guys would go to for help with home projects and stuff like that. She has a pretty impressive assortment of tools and knows how to use them. When she divorced a few years ago she started remodeling what was basically a hunting cabin into her home. She built a bathroom, a bedroom and a large sunroom on to the cabin and completely remodeled the interior. She just finished the interior of her daughter's shell/kit home. She likes dogs, guns, trucks and motorcycles. She's attractive, doesn't smoke and drinks beer occasionally. If that wasn't enough, she actually likes me.
A few weeks ago I picked up a Poly80 lower receiver at a local gun shop. I helped her as she completely finished her first 80% lower and assembled it into a functioning gun. She thought that was amazing fun and we've since done two more aluminum lowers for her.
The only down side is she lives 200 miles away in a small Texas town. The same small Texas town where she grew up, worked on her dad's farm and graduated from high school. She's retiring some time near the end of the year...I guess for some reasons related to social security.
So far we're having a great time and see each other every weekend. She spent her two weeks vacation here with me and we had a really good time. I went with her, her 4 kids (3 sons, 1 daughter) and 3 grandkids to South Padre Island about a month ago and she went with me to east Texas to visit with my mom over mother's day weekend.
So, I'm in a happy place, now, and just felt like sharing. Life is good...you just sometimes have to look for the good and recognize it when it presents itself.
