View Full Version : Facebook and the Biden Administration Admit to Censoring Speech

It's unconscionable to me that ANYONE still uses Facebook. I don't get it at all.

The Biden administration has admitted to flagging posts (they say related to COVID...but color me skeptical it's limited to that) for removal with the full cooperation of Facebook. They say the posts contain "disinformation" about COVID 19. Really? Disinformation according t whom? Oh, that's right... The democrats in the Biden administration.

This is pure evil. And they aren't even trying to hide it.

And I'm under no illusion this is limited to Facebook. I'm sure most of the big tech giants are on board in one form or another.

It's pretty fucking discouraging.

But but… that how I keep up with people! If only we had some magic way of contacting people anytime of the day that would fit in out pocket…

Facebook is the fucking scourge of society and 90% of our problems would be solved if we didn’t have it at all.

So, stop voting for Biden. Stop going on Facebook.

This is very, very old news, but I agree with you. YouTube does it all the time. As does Instagram, which is also Facebook.

It's old news they've been censoring on their own in line with the own internal leftist agendas. It's not old news that a White House press secretary comes out and admits the administration is working with a big tech company to censor Americans. That's pretty much unprecedented as far as I know. Not saying the government's never done it. But they've never openly admitted they're doing and went to such great lengths to convince the American people that it's for their own good.

That is NOT old news. Unless you grew up in the Soviet Union.

You're probably right. It is worse that the white house is participating, but to the "end user," so to speak, the experience is the same.

Do you have a link, by the way?

The only thing surprising to me is that they are so emboldened that they'll admit to this now. That and the fact that so many Americans are now sheeple that will hear this open admission and not do anything about it at all.

I've been rereading Jerry Pournelle's CoDominium novels lately -- in particular "Go Tell the Spartans" and "Prince of Sparta" and the parallels to contemporary society are uncanny.

Do what about it? I couldn't even just the people I feel should be executed by the state on here, let alone running around taking about it in public?

I used google translate. To approximate Stuish, I translated into afrikkans, somalian, scottish gaelic, japanese, greek and then to english.

What are you doing about it? Far from leaving the public, he could not pay those who considered themselves killed in the state.

I guess it would be difficult to pay people who considered themselves killed, so it's a valid point, I guess.

Nope it doesn't sell in Peoria, in Afrikaan, either. It's a little edgier, but all those vowels.

Wat doen jy daaraan? Hy kon nie die publiek verlaat nie, maar hy kon nie diegene betaal wat hulle in die staat as vermoor beskou nie.

I guess all the data on UFO/UAP and space aliens is classified. Even some of old stuff on the internet has disappeared. A lot of what I have seen is not just censorship, but a complete disinformation campaign. The recently released Senate Intelligence Committee report basically said nothing. I shouldn't bitch, at least we have meat and toilet paper...

I was neither, but auto correct didn't help for sure. I was asking, what are people supposed to do about this? Quit using Facebook I guess, but that's probably only even half the user base, so Facebook would survive and nothing would really change.

I was trying to convey, and didn't do a good job, that even on this website, that is only quasi public, we can't really have open discussions about the way our government tramples our rights and what should be done with those in power who are guilty of doing the trampling. So, I just can't imagine that people who exist on more public media platforms are going to do, or even say anything meaningful about this. Sure, I'd love to see anyone upset about this put their money where their mouth is with respect to the voting booth and abandoning Facebook and all its other platforms, but I'm just too cynical to expect anything to change for the better.

Your cynical is what I call "realistic".

Lots of people have bright eyes, hope and dreams, in their teens and twenties.

Then, some of them start dating the government, and realize you can't change an abuser.

Anyone who thinks they can fix things is either inexperienced, or an optimist of unfathomable extreme.

Am I now or have I ever been a member of the Facebook party? No. Never have. My ex and I used a fake FB profile in order to read certain things from time to time...she used it far more often than I did, and even then it was like twice a year, maybe. I fucking hate FB. And I always vote. Always.

In the past I've been very vocal to my elected representatives on the state and federal level. One time, when I had an issue with the VA, it did me some good. I contacted Hank Brown's office (how long ago was that?) and he assisted in quickly solving the problem.

Aside from that I've NEVER received what I felt was a satisfactory response from ANY elected official I've contacted. I long ago learned that contacting an elected representative was simply a way to vent and make myself feel better about whatever situation had me concerned. I honestly feel that's an exercise in futility now. Nothing has changed for the better within government in my opinion. Maybe temporarily with a particular administration, but not permanently. And I don't think it will. We are on a path of self-destruction that I honestly feel can't be stopped. The only solution in stopping it might be worse than not stopping it.

It's just a fucking mess and I'm tired of it.

I added the bold.

I quit FB eight(?) years ago when I became tired of the negativity and snark that seemed to prevail. Not a small part was politically oriented. What I am trying to understand is that years ago, when I was on FB and in more liberal circles, many of those in the liberal circles took pride in believing they were informed and seeing all the sides of an issue. The idea that the left is so emboldend that the media sources can admit that what they are doing is supporting a cause is disconcerting.

There was no doubt in my mind that it's far more widespread and not limited to just covid when all MSM and all social media simply refused to report anything about Hunter's laptop and went so far as to suspend any account who did.

That story was absolutely legitimate and verifiable. But even mentioning it was no allowed.

That's top down direction.

+1, sick of the crap. I've also grown less concerned.

It's kind of like watching a movie where ominous music is playing. I can't do anything to warn the actress, so I might as well just eat my popcorn and see who dies. At most, I might point and say "I tolf yoo so!" with my mouth stuffed with snacks, but I'm not all that invested in the movie.

Family is all I about care for since the last few years.

All in keeping with the Party and commissar directions. I wonder at times how long it'll be before the US military has political officers like the old Soviet Army did. Da, tovarisch.

I am increasingly reminded of things William Shirer wrote in "Berlin Diary" regarding propaganda. The first that comes to mind is that for propaganda to be effective, it must be believable, it must be delivered in a medium the population will accept, and it must be a message the population wants to hear. The second thing that comes to mind is a description of life during air raids at night. According to Shirer, there were those who went to bed early in anticipation of a raid, there were those who stayed up in anticipation of a raid, then there were others. Those who went to bed, were woken by the raid sirens, and showed up at the shelter greeted those already there by saying "Good Morning.' Those who had stayed awake greeted those in the shelter with "Good evening." Those who believed the propaganda and never woke up (Shirer's words) greeted the occupants of the shelter with "Heil Hitler!"

I have to wonder how much more people are going to accept.

I'm still on FB, mostly for work-related stuffs. I don't post anything that might get me looked at, and I keep my settings to my 'friends' group- but in no way do I feel that it's secure.
I join a zillion cat-related groups to keep the feed active. But it's discouraging to see people lining up to drink the kool-aid.

Drinking? They're like frat boys at a kegger.

Sadly the comments on FB, and even worse at the NYT & WaPo, should worry , everyone.

There are signs that some people are waking up, like a few parents at school board meetings to protest CRT. But not nearly enough. With the left in charge of virtually every power center in the country, its more of a question about how bold they want to be at any given moment. The recent white house admission, as Bailey noted, was somewhat amazing. For the most part, the courts don't want to get involved - everyone feels threatened.
