His greatest accomplishment? Telling the Olympics to beat it after Colorado was "awarded" them, thus saving the state billions.
I guess he had "a duty to die", then.

I thlought his greatest accomplishment was eluding a few members of the press, after leaving his alleged mistress, in Greeley.
While hiding in the back seat of a state troopers / his drivers car. Travelling at high rates of speed, with the press in pursuit.

That was Roy Romer IIRC
Definitely Romer, not Lamm. BJ Thornberry, Romer’s aide. The chase took roughly 25 miles for the trooper to shake the other car, don’t remember the type of car, occupied 2x. I believe the license plate was noted but never heard what happened. Romer was in Greeley for a debate with Bruce Benson.
Apologies for the drift.

Good or bad governor? I know nothing about him.Depends on your political leanings.
My wife's family thought he was great and worked to get him elected, my family despised him.
My neighbor's wife worked on his office staff and loved him. He was generally a centrist Democrat and a far cry from the Democrats now running this State. If I had a choice of any Democrat to run this state, it would definitely be him.

Last of the independent thinkers in politics.
He didn't care which party he offended when he believed in a principal.
He was famous for successfully campaigning to ban the 1976 Winter Olympics from Colorado.
First time in history.
My Dad and I had planned to build a hot dog stand on I-70 and make our first million during the Olympics.
The term Don't Californicate Colorado was born then and appeared on many bumper stickers
Later, he expressed his opinion that older, sick people had a "duty to die" that gained him notoriety throughout the nation as Governor Gloom.
He spent his post politician years at DU as a law professor and a counselor to many students - what an advisor to have!
