Rossi M92 feeding issue

Hi all. My son has a Rossi M92 in .45LC. He has not fired it yet but has cycled it to check function. The cartridge stop has an intermittent issue of not functioning. No matter how soft or hard I work the lever, the stop works then it doesn't. In order to get it to work again, I have to use a flat tip to push in the stop and re set it. Youtube has plenty of videos on the matter, but I don't trust myself to disassemble it without losing something. Anyone have any experience with this and can give me and the boy a hand? Hickman Rifle didn't want to touch it because of Rossi's crap replacement part and warranty policy. Thanks in advance for any help!

I have four Rossi's. They're not hard to work on, I've tuned up all of mine. They do need some work, especially springs. Worst part is reassembling the bolt, but a piece of dental floss tames that task. I can provide details if you wish.

Get a package of these springs, I got mine on eBay for cheap. Order direct if you have to. Use one of these to replace the ejector spring. That spring is FAR too strong for the job. It'll throw the brass like crazy, and will eventually break the ejector, it's just too stiff. This will make cycling easier too.

Hammer spring - I cut about 1/4" to 5/16" off the hammer spring first thing. Those are way too stiff, this will also make it much easier to cycle.

This is a start. I also thin the loading gate spring, put a shim under the trigger spring, square and polish the contact surface of the trigger spring, replace the mag spring and follower with stainless parts, then cut the mag spring to where it's 3" longer than the tube.

Then there's the deburring and smoothing of the internal parts that move against each other.
