View Full Version : CCW Permit with Dual-Residence?

I am currently a part time CO resident with a signed lease in Eagle County. I am currently a legal resident of MD (with an MD driver's license) but CO does not honor the MD permit, nor my UT Non Resident. Do I have any options for getting a valid CO carry permit?

If it matters, I used to be a full time CO resident until 2018 and possess a CO carry permit (Boulder County) which expired in 2019.

No. There is no such thing as a dual residency in the USA. You have a primary residency and all the rest are domiciles. CO doesn't have a non-residence permit nor reciprocity with MD nor the UT NR permit. Sorry, but you're kinda screwed.

If you have a residence in CO there's no reason you couldn't become a CO resident with a CO license and then apply for a permit. You'd have to give up your MD license to do that. It can be done...you just may not be willing to do what it takes.

I moved from Colorado to Maryland for work. As part of the contract, I have to be legally based in MD for another 18 months. But with covid and everyone going remote, I'm physically here in CO. Been here for a long time, don't plan on leaving.

Thanks everyone else for the assistance. That's what I thought, just wanted to confirm. So much for "shall not be infringed." Oh well.

Well, with the state preemption law having been removed I'm sure that Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley will probably make CCW illegal anyway.

You can carry concealed on your own property, assuming handguns are still legal to possess.
