I knew the deceased victim in this case was a concessions worker, but the perps too?
Police said the Powell, Price and the deceased victim were working the night of the shooting. Price left his shift early because he was not feeling well. The three were working for Aramark, a food service company, and contracted for temporary employment through a company called Instawork, according to the affidavit.
Interesting...
Records obtained by Denver7 shows Powell has a lengthy arrest record in Colorado, going back to 2016. Powell's arrests include possession of a weapon by a previous offender. Price does not have a record in Colorado, other than the pending charges from Friday's shooting.
They were mad at him...
Surveillance video captured the shooting. Police wrote in the affidavit that video shows the victim arguing with one of the suspects. A short time later, another suspect appears and shoots the victim. The video then shows the victim run down a set of stairs as the suspect continues to shoot him, the affidavit reads. The victim falls to the ground as the suspect runs down the stairs and stands 5 feet from the victim and fires four to five more shots at the victim, according to the affidavit.
Add to the "Not Surprising Department"...
Friday's shooting outside Coors Field was among at least six separate shootings over the weekend. At least 13 people were shot during a violent three days in Denver.

Give it just a little time... Denver will be the next Seattle or Portland before long.
If I was the best and the brightest, I sure would be looking for work at a concession stand.

Darn. Missed it by *that much*.

Labor shortage. Sheesh fellas, haven't you been paying attention. (sarcasm). Aramark is hiring whoever they can. No background checks needed. They just need a placeholder to fill in for those that are still collecting unemployment or simply moved on to a better job.

Been to a number of games this year (including all star stuff) and can say they are stretched thin, quality of product and service are down noticeably.

...or ChicagoLet's not kid ourselves, Denver has been working towards this for years.
I remember moving to Colorado in the late 1980s and thinking how nice Denver was. A big city with no slums. The state and city leadership have been tirelessly creating them ever since.

Saw an article the other day of most expensive homes for sale in Denver. One is an 18 million dollar loft a few blocks down on Blake.
Been on the market for 297 days, something tells me it might be another 297. Who wants to live near that sh!t show.

Yah. I definitely remember downtown Denver--specifically the 16th Street Mall area--to be a pretty nice place when I was in high school in the mid-80's in Loveland. Too bad we can't have nice things.
RE: the $18million dollar loft for sale... Sometimes I wonder if that's an ego thing for the owner and the listing real estate agent. Nobody really expects it to sell at that price, but it looks good on the books and gives the owner something to talk about with friends.

It seems to me that the 2000-2010 era was a high point for downtown Denver, including the Mall and LODO. It was nice down there.
Things definitely started to roll-off quickly after 2015, and exponentially shit-showed after 2019.
Not related to Colorado (yet), but generally along the theme of where we are headed vis-a-vis the employability of future HS grads:
Oregon SB744 SFF (https://www.standingforfreedom.com/2021/08/09/no-child-left-behind-in-the-name-of-equity-oregon-gets-rid-of-math-reading-and-writing-requirements-for-graduation/)
SB744 ET (https://www.theepochtimes.com/mkt_breakingnews/oregon-governor-signs-bill-letting-students-graduate-without-proving-they-can-read-write-or-do-math_3943324.html?utm_source=newsnoe&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=breaking-2021-08-11-1&mktids=71573796501ef5fba4e3dc14d2e400ad&est=XfZafJ6WOM23DX3ebOHCEgNIeZk7dI7SIlc7GlXRjGJm9t PiXT1Shbf9c7P1lb6Hj%2FUU)
Snippets of SFF article:
In an attempt to have “equitable graduation standards,” the state of Oregon is doing away with the requirement that high school seniors demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, and math before graduating.
Quick Facts:
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, D, signed Senate Bill 744 on July 14.
The bill drops the graduation requirement requiring students to show that they can read and write proficiently and do high school-level math.
Charles Boyer, the governor’s deputy communications director, claimed the change would benefit minorities.
On July 14, Gov. Kate Brown, D, signed into law Senate Bill 744, which removes the requirement that graduating seniors must be able to show they can read, write, and do high-school level math. The bill wasn’t made public until two weeks later. Moreover, there was no signing ceremony or press release, and she has yet to make any comments on the law.
However, when pressed by the Oregonian, Charles Boyle, the governor’s deputy communications director, replied in an email statement that the bill will benefit “Oregon’s Black, Latino, Latina, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.”
And what about the responsibility to the Oregon taxpayer? Taxes ostensibly go towards paying teachers to fully educate students and help them to become productive members of society, yet now students can go through 13 years of schooling without even being adequately taught to read, write, or do basic math?
So much for no child left behind.
Oregon parents who want their children to get a quality education and excel in the real world will now have no choice but to exit the public school system and send their child to private school or homeschool their children themselves — or move out of Oregon.
Snippet from ET article:
“This 2021 Act being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is declared to exist, and this 2021 Act takes effect on its passage,” it states.
The Oregon House passed the bill 38–18 in June, followed by the state Senate in a 16–13 vote.
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown quietly signed the bill into law last month. Her office did not announce the signing. That move was not entered into the legislative database for about two weeks, until July 29, and people who signed up for alerts on action on the bill never received one, The Oregonian reported.
Brown’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
I guess it's official. As long as you show up enough days that we (public school system) can get tax dollars for your enrollment, do as you please....

Yeah, I saw the article on Oregon changing their school standards. I guess instead of Reading 'Riting, and 'Rithmetic, they can teach Racism, Rioting, and Relationships.

I forget what the kid called it, IPO NPO some damn acronym....non Aramark employees. Boy/Eagle scouts are part of crews serving food and drinks there also, so they're not all sh!t bags. The kid has cleared $500 in tips on some nights and he's been working there (2nd job) for 6-7 years now running beer carts or behind a bar. He's a really good kid and some here can vouch for him besides myself.
Personally I'm not a baseball fan and most venues serve the same over priced crap. Mile High and The Can aren't any better imo.
