I picked on some 30.06 recently and trying to figure out what I actually have.

240 rd can on clips in cardboard
M72 Match
Lot FA 69

What little info I can find is Frankford Arsenal but the 69 is throwing me off. Some indicate year but some don't.

OK headstamped 59 so that is solved.

So anyone know what I'm looking at and a value?

National Match competition ammunition.

FA 69 means Frankford Arsenal manufactured in 1969 or FA 59 means made in 1959.
You should also see MATCH or NM on the headstamp.

Useful in an M1 Garand. Accuracy is better than ball or AP usgi ammo.
I've found my reloads were better than usgi NM ammo.

Nice score. Value is whatever someone is willing to pay. Prices are all over the place. Some are asking as much as $3.00 a round for AP in clips, some as low as $.95 per round.
I recently traded 500 rounds of 9mm for two spam cans of M2 ball. 192 rounds in clips in bandoliers. Fair trade. In February I bought a can of M2 ball, 200 rounds in metallic links for $115.
Right now surplus M2 ball is crazy priced, at least in my opinion. Since I buy it to shoot, I can’t justify current prices to support my M1 Garand addiction. There are still millions of rounds of 30/06 surplus out there. I will wait until I can buy it for $.50 a round or less. It will happen again.
