Well, I dig the look, so I've been reading up on it.

Sounds like a real Dissipator rifle would have a rifle length gas system with an enlarged gas port.
Apparently Del Ton makes the correct barrels, but they are out of stock for God knows how long.

Option 1:
I do have a 20" upper that I could convert to it, but that would imply a few things:
1) I need to get me an F marked front sight (I no longer have the one that was on my 20") and hope that the pins match the holes on the barrel (anyone has an extra one to sell?).
2) I would need to get the barrel cut to 16", re-crowned and re-threaded.
3) I would need to get the gas port enlarged (anyone knows the correct size?).
Not sure what it would cost (?) or who could do the job correctly without costing me more than a complete PSA upper (Bert, where are you???).
Option 2:
Buy a complete upper from PSA, but it would end up costing $300 (without BCG and CH) and I already have an upper, handguard etc. and it would be a "mock" dissipator, with a mid-length gas system and a front sight mounted in the rifle position, not my favorite option...

Option 3:
Find a Dissipator barrel and install it on my upper.
If I could only find one...
Anyone has a one that they want to sell?

Please...

Can?t help you out. I?ve always liked the dissipator setup. I like that you get the full length handguard and sight radius on a carbine length rifle.

Personally, I like the fake dissipators because I get the features that I like while avoiding the potential reliability issues associated with having almost no barrel left beyond the gas port.

Sure, I?ve heard that a properly done dissipator can be perfectly reliable but I?ve seen more than a few that were anything but reliable.

This one is a mid gas rifle and runs as well as any other 16? middy.

Good luck with your project.

So I ended up with a PSA Dissipator upper
Slapped it on and it was a bolt action rifle...no cycling whatsoever...
Gas port must have been rifle sized.
I had to open the gas port to 3/32 to get it to run.
Supposedly 5/64 should be the right size gas port for a mid-lenghth, but after i brought it up to that size, no go.
Now it's running just fine, but WTF, PSA did not reply to my email, fucking nothing...
I never had such a lemon from PSA. [fail]

I have a Dissipator, but like Ray, It's a "Mock" Dissy with a mid-length gas block and runs like a champ.

Only rifle/SBR I have that hasn't been run suppressed.
