View Full Version : Dove hunt 2021
My first time hunting these fast little bastards.
We took some Eurasian Sun, Mon, Tue along with some p-dogs.
Opening morning yielded 69 birds among 8 hunters. Afternoon hunt got interrupted by a massive T-storm so only a few early birds were taken.

Dove hunting is one of my favorites. They don't fly straight works well with my cant shoot straight.

Nice shooting. Wish I was getting out for it.

It was slow as hell where we were at compared to last year. I was a little bummed. But we will keep at it.
I'm embarrassed to say we lost a lot of birds in the brush it was so tall/thick. IOW, most of use shot our limit or close to it in the morning but didn't recover them all. That ragweed was insane.
Yea the first bird I got I spent 20 min trying to find , I only kept looking cuz I was afraid it might be the only one I hit haha.

They are very hard to find in the brush. Spend more time searching for them than shooting them.

love dove hunting myself. 69 between 8 guys is pretty good action for sure. I went back to the family farm in Kansas and we had a good weekend but our best afternoon/evening was 83 between 7 of us. We only killed two collared/Eurasian dove all weekend. Love bacon wrapped dove breast.

Very nice!
Why the low ring neck count? They keep them at bay otherwise or more drinking than hunting?
The Eurasians stayed in tight around the farm house for the most part and they were quick to disappear to unknown places once a shot rang out.
