Etc...

I'm sure most have heard or seen of this one.

If not, cute white girl and meatball go on cross country trip. They argue in Moab. Girl goes incommunicado. Meatball shows up a week later in their shared van, in Florida, hides at Mom's house and gets a lawyer.

Two questions-

1- What are the chances meatball didn't do it?
2- Would there be the media frenzy if it wasn't a cute white girl?

It is sad how "investigators are going more concerned for her safety as time goes on" when an average joe can come outright on day two and say "dood, she dead, we lookin for the body"

Havent read the linked article yet but there was a 911 call by a third party in moab for a domestic from them. It's a case where the finger pointing is entirely correct. People don't lose their SO and drive 1500 miles without a phone call...

Another random thought: just 100 years ago people never came home and their survivors wondered for a lifetime whether they were alive or not, with no ability to access information. The modern age is mostly a blessing. I am not sure if it is better to outright know your child is dead though (modern), or to always be able to imagine them having a wild life somewhere out west...

I wouldn't be surprised if Gabbi Petito left him on her own volition and found out it is a big bad world out there. Suzanne Morphew case was a lot of speculation her husband was having an affair initially. Turns out she was having an affair, I think she left him on her own power too.

Chris Watts, Patrick Frazee, Donthe Lucas, all guilty as hell.

All these cases are fascinating to me as an amateur sleuth.

There is speculation she may have fallen prey to the Moab lesbian couple killer.

Shitty deal all around for sure.

Attractive young white girl? I'm certain that's part of it. Meatball? most likely. The fathers interviews seem to show he's got his head screwed on straight and a tight guy. The young lady strikes me as a princess type that always gets what she wants.

As I've been following this, my impressions were infidelity/jealousy at first and then I speculated unintended pregnancy. Unknown influence factor of posting everything they did on social media. Folks that young don't really know wtf their doing in the first place. 22ys old?....sheeet. Ya only think ya know.

If meatball killed her, which he most likely did, I hope he eats shit in prison for the rest of his life on our dime since we don't kill killers anymore. It would be much cheaper if we did.

The current story appears that she did talk to her family from the Teton/Yellowstone NP area at the end of August (actual voice discussion, not just a text or phone ping), well after the Moab "argumentative" fight where LE became involved.

Probably the most likely event is that they had another "fight" that that escalated to her death, either by accidental rage or intentional killing. He has decided to clam-up and make the authorities prove something.

However, other more interesting scenarios exist:

Their visit to the Moab area does coincide with the lesbian camper deaths noted above, along with many other tourists. However, the potential link is notable. Perhaps he killed them while "out for groceries", and then killed her later in WY- maybe she was asking too many questions, put 2 and 2 together, maybe the fight in Moab was a "where were you? / what were you doing?"

or

They had another fight, with her deciding "I am done", and marching off into boonies in a huff. He also drives off in a huff, back to FL with a "that will teach her" attitude. She falls prey to any number of potentially encounters- environmental, four-legged or two-legged.

The whole thing is going to be a Lifetime movie, or an extended Investigation Discovery episode.

As .455 Hunter essentially said, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the fiance killed the two women in Moab (there was a connection to the 2 women and to this couple) and killed Gabby/Gabbi also.

I truly believe that Gabby is dead and hope phone records can help trace the locations since she was last spoken with on the phone. From there, start searching 0-300 yrds from any point the van could have reached (the fiance isn't particularly built and I doubt he could/would have moved her body further than that). It's a LOT of area to search but you have to start somewhere. Then again, he could have disposed of her body anywhere along his route back to FL.

If he did commit a crime, the scenario will take time to develop.

Do these newer vans have any sort of "on-star" type tracking? As theGinsue states, telemetry from one or both phones?

How long do they store traffic cam data in Jackson /Cody/etc (if they even have it)?

The van has some configuration features (rear ladder, top vent fan, rails) that makes it a bit more distinctive than the current "van life" ex-plumber special.

Just another missing white girl for the media to go gaga over.

It's tabloid news to me. Not worthy of coverage outside their local area

When on a trip, people often have Google maps up, for speed traps at the least, so Google will know every place they were. Hell, Google tells me where I've been every month whether I like it or not.

He's 22ish? He probably googled crap like "chemicals clean up animal blood" in the first 30 minutes. His goose will be cooked by the time they process everything. Thing is, I doubt they find her unless he strikes a later deal and he may be free on bond for +/- a year. It is interesting the overlap on the lesbians. What would prove that is simply phone data - remember their killer, in all probability, was the creepy guy near them. I am guessing that is just coincidence tbh.

Or maybe she?s fine and dandy and they are in on it together pulling a publicity stunt to get attention.

They fake a fight and get the cops called setting the stage before he drops her off with a friend, she turns her phone off and goes dark, then he rushes home and lawyers up. She turns up later with some wild story about her disappearance and exonerates him and gets tv appearances, book deals, and her own lifetime movie.

Yes. After I read some of the replies, I also began to think about the situation and possibilities other than meathead.

Most likely dead. Even if it wasn't meathead, Highway 191 is a major north-south for traffic that wants to avoid the interstates and mountains. No telling where an attractive woman could end up if hitchhiking along that route. If she stormed off while camping thinking could find her way around, it's not likely she knew her way around desert canyons and the rock and water hazards they contain.

Yup. Totally makes sense to not tell the police if you dropped her off at mile marker 114 and said "Influence this..." (one finger wave). Totally makes sense to go down in infamy in the entire country as a murderer instead.

So the boyfriend that was a potential POI disappears . Check

The GF, a whiny, high maintenance, vaginal discharge, has not been seen, since who knows when. Check.

The tinfoil hat on me says. She's been hiding out, after he dropped her off, in some by the hour cash motel.

Suddenly the positive spin she hoped the media would put on her, hasn't materialized. Check.

She knocks on the BF's window, he goes out to see wtf she's doing around his place. She lures him to the woods, where she does him in. Then makes it look like he tried killing her.

The note the feds find, looks like he killed himself over the guilt he had, for running the biggest hoax.

Since the longmont? dad called the cops saying his kid's in the homemade ufo, that got loose.

Dr. Phil and tmz have checks ready to be signed, for the EXCLUSIVE, TELL ALL INTERVIEW.

After it's all over, she's still a vaginal discharge. Looking for Mr. Goodbar.

The odds of getting away with something like this are pretty close to zero, but in the criminal's mind they put the odds at close to 100%.

Latest news at 10pm is that unconfirmed "resources" within the investigation are confirming it is her remains that were found. This is based on items found on the remains, clothing, and the general description (ht, wt, hair, etc.). I am sad for the family, wish the outcome could have been better.

Schmidt later reported that she received a text message from her daughter on August 30, in which Petito allegedly wrote: "No service in Yosemite." But Schmidt did not believe that the text was actually written by her daughter.

Once a body was found in WY, the above becomes pretty important evidence.

We all know he killed her, but it will be an uphill battle for the prosecution (when they find him) to prove he killed her. Everything we know they have is circumstantial. He'll plead not guilty and simply say "She was alive when I left her; someone else must have killed her after I left."

I know they'll eventually find him, but he did have several days (maybe even a week or more) to get away and even out of the country. It could take a while.

The text(s) from her phone after she was likely already dead and after he left offer some additional possible evidence against him, but it's gonna be tough to prove HE sent them.

+1. White knights are one of the worst plagues of them all in the entire justice system. I've seen manipulating women get away with everything, including murder.

How it should be:
Treat each and every person exactly the same. White, black, teenager, attractive crying woman, fat man, grandma.... treat them all like they might pull a gun out of their genitals or butt cheeks and kill you when your back is turned, but be polite and respectful about it.

PS: A friend of mine was a cop in OKC and got shot when a woman pulled a gun out from her tits while he was dealing with the guy. He ended his career after that. Reality of crappy people is not Hollywood, unfortunately, "nice" people sometimes hack up their neighbor and eat them, and they are friendly as can be while talking to you.

Meanwhile the homeless guy that looks like he came from 'stan wearing a suicide vest may in fact be one of the best people at heart. Can never judge the book, even if a person thinks they are good at judging.

But, also fuck transients. GD drug addicted, every one of them. :p

What were the Moab cops supposed to do, assume they know all the facts, have a genie check the future, separate them and give her solo psychotherapy sessions for 90 days until she realized her boyfriend was controlling?

Because yeah, that's what it takes when dealing with a triad. She'd go back to him otherwise. They always do. They could've spent a week on that call and it wouldn't have done a damn bit of good. And no crime witnessed on the boyfriends part, so unless we want total recall shit, or we want cops arresting us on presumption of future crime, it happened exactly the way it should.

The caller said he saw Laundrie hit Petito.
Police in Moab, Utah, are dispatched and pull the van over.
It is unclear if they knew the details of the 911 call.
Police bodycam video shows Petito crying and upset.
The police report says that Petito hit Laundrie, but no arrests were made.
The couple is separated for the night - Laundrie checks into a hotel and Petito stays in the van.

There's only room in the media for a handful of stories, and they usually rapidly regurgitate new stories brought by someone else, because it's easy.

Why is this in the news and "x" missing person isn't? Simply because it is.

FoxtArt
10-03-2021, 10:22
Put another way too, if every missing person made national news, you'd never watch national news, ever, and nobody else would either. It would be an exhausting, full time job that you aren't paid for to watch even a fraction of the stories, and there wouldn't be a single person that you could discuss any individual story with, because they would all get lost in the noise. People want AN interesting story, they don't want ALL OF THEM.

This is close to something I point out to my anti-gun associates. We don't hear of every vehicle death even in a place as close as Denver, but if there's more than one person shot anywhere in the country, you'll hear about it.

...and on its anniversary, and if they find some local connection and if someone, somewhere makes a comment about it and, and, and...

I ask myself why isn't the federal government going after everyone who is committing debit card fraud?

Why is the government spending so many resources looking for someone with minor fraud charges and letting illegal aliens roam free?

What are the odds if my debit card was used without my permission, the federal government would get involved? What are the odds the local PD would take a report and then do nothing?

He flew to Florida to clean out a storage unit. Then he flew back to Gabby. Then she died. Then he drove home to Florida without her. I'm curious as to why Medical Examiner has not released details of autopsy. I would not be surprised if she hit him and he pushed her away and she fell and hit her head on a rock. Not even a 1% chance of that being true. As much as people hate to admit it, evil people exist, and they abuse and murder others. It's not curable, it is caused by physical abnormalities in the brain, counseling and therapy do not fix it, it's not because someone was mean and called them a dum-dum in the third grade, it's personality disorders. It never fails to amaze me how people have to substitute the best of intentions for the worst of humanity. The RP called 911 to report HE was hitting HER. I read body language well. His demonstrates a desire to portray normalcy through acting, while subtle cues in his facial expression demonstrates his actions and words do not correlate with his thoughts. I havent heard a single account of anyone that knows him saying "hes a nice guy". Even his sister doesnt claim that. And the girls best friend, the details behind it all. The people who saw him at a wyoming bar (real nice fellow he is, lols). The guy had all the inklings of a socio/psycopath. Most of those dont go on to murder, he probably wouldnt have if not for #vanlife with an influencer, but make no mistake, they don't murder by accident, and they dont feel even a tiny bit of guilt when they do.

I won't paint Gabby as a total victim princess, but the mark on Brian's face from being hit with a cell phone was likely a defensive strike by Gabby - based solely on what the RP said in the 911 call.

This much is clear, Gabby didn't end up dead because Brian was defending himself. Brian was bigger and stronger than her and could have stopped any attack from Gabby without killing her.

Like all of those people who kill their spouses instead of just getting a divorce, Brian made the choice to kill her.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/10/us/could-brian-laundrie-be-alive-survival-experts/index.html

Survival "experts" say no way meatball is alive in the swamps.

"Florida's climate is very, very difficult," Urban told CNN. "I'm an expert with plenty of experience, and it would be everything that I could do to survive for (more) than three weeks. Someone with no experience, you cannot be lucky and survive in that sort of climate."

"Some non-trained guy just used to walking on trails is not going to evade a team of experts like that, just by hiding,"

So he's dead.

He's not in Cuba, he did not instill himself in the underworld like a criminal mastermind.

He likely killed the girl in a "fit of passion" as they used to say. Couldn't live with the guilt or the prospect of prison or worse- Wyoming still has the death penalty. He wandered into the woods and killed himself.

wctriumph
10-10-2021, 11:02
There are native people that are still living in the Florida everglades to this day. The authorities went in a decade or more and cleared them all out and right away hundreds moved back in. There is the chance that if he went in, he could be alive. I doubt that he actually went in there and is long gone from Florida.

FoxtArt
10-10-2021, 11:41
If his parents said he went to the swamp and abandoned his vehicle and they brought it back and it was four days, then five days, before they called it in, and... and.. and...

He never went to the swamp in the first place. Survival experts say you can't live there, so his parents want everyone to stop looking. His parents agree "he dead" while smiling and joking with investigators in the swamp.

Come on, guys. --Biden

Note some friends have reported he has "camped" in the Appalachians for months in the past.

So PSA, gen Z needs to be taught not to date transients apparently. It's not camping when they live there permanently. Needless to say, he is either with friends/family staying in a basement, or he's in the hills shitting in the woods which is his normal productive occupation, as far as I can tell. At no time was he ever in the swamp.

Last known place that Brian Laundrie was seen was Fort De Soto State Park. It is mainly water and has a boat ramp. His car was last seen at Carlton Reserve. I'd rather take my chances on a boat, than live in the swamp. I am not really familiar with this part of Florida. I know in the 1980's and 90's lots of drugs imported to the south-west coast. Planes would be found abandoned on highways, usually been stolen.

To add to my earlier post about the horrible creatures in that swamp...

“I walk there all the time and there won’t be much of the remains left,” John Widmann, who lives about a mile from the 25,000-acre Carlton Reserve, where the remains were found early Wednesday, told The Post.

“There’s alligators, but the worst thing are the wild pigs,” Widmann said. “They’re evil animals and will eat anything. Any flesh out in the open will not be wasted.”

“There won’t be much for the coroner to work on,” he added. “Nature doesn’t waste anything.”

NewsNationNow correspondent Brian Entin reported Thursday that sources revealed that the remains were “skeletal.”
