Voting- Give them the left hand- a way to expose vote harvesting

The press made a lot out of the fact that the recount in Arizona didn?t change the results, while totally overlooking the fact of all the issues with not the ballots themselves but who voted. That has always been the question, are people turning in multiple ballots. I know recently there has been a lot of talk about how the signature verification has been desensitized to allow more ballots through. I think I have a way to testing And combat this.

We sign our ballot envelope correct and then that is analyzed and compared to our signature on record. If they don?t match we are given the chance to prove that it is actually us, because we can be notified by email if the ballot has issues.

My first idea was to have my wife sign my ballot and me sign hers since our signatures are nothing alike. Then I thought that might run into legal problems. So my idea is instead of using our right hand, the writing hand for most of us, I would just sign the envelope with my left hand. That way it is legally me signing it and there?s no illegality.

If the system catches it, we would have a chance to repair the ballot and still vote, correct? If it goes through, that pretty much shows that the signature verification is complete bullshit.

Thoughts? Best way I can think of to help show what we all think is happening. Frankly, it seems that my vote doesn?t count for much here in Denver anyways. Even if 10% of conservatives did this and the votes get thrown out, would it change any races?

If nothing else, it could make them tune up the handwriting systems.

Once the ballots are separated from the envelope, it's next to impossible to validate the actual ballots. If insiders stuff the box with fake ballots, who is going to be able to tell which are valid? A follow-up count without the regard to alignment of ballots to the votes of valid voters is useless.

Yes. What I want to show is that the signature verification system is broken and doesn’t work. That doesn’t prove fraud, but it gives a credible reason to believe that the system can’t detect fraudulent votes.

Everyone looks at the count, the count is secondary. First, it has to be a legally cast ballot.

My wife recently had hand surgery on her dominate hand. While recovering she had to renew her drivers license and provide an updated signature, it looks nothing like her normal signature. She tired to explain this to DL office and they didn't care. It will be interesting to see what happens when she returns her ballot.

If ballots had serial numbers and when you voted your name was tied to the serial number, and you got a carbon copy of your ballot after voting you could go online and check to see if your vote was changed or not. As long as there is no way for third parties to be allowed to cross reference the serial numbers with voter names (to keep the ballot secret to avoid reprisals against voters) this would eliminate double run and/or changed ballots. It would also require a cheater to tie ballots to names (so dead people voting would be easily caught and they couldn't just stuff anonymous ballots in the ballot boxes).

If multiple ballots with the same serial number showed up you could be contacted and then your carbon copy scanned to "correct" the vote cast (and the extra vote(s) thrown out).

Blockchain is a similar concept in practice. The point of it is auditability and traceability. But, neither side of the isle really wants that in the house/senate. Ironic.

The downside of a serial number could be used for validation of how you voted so you can get paid for said vote...or the retaliatory you voted this way - here is your never ending IRA audit....

If proof of ID is too hard; how about a thumb print? ;) DNA sample? - ok; sort of silly....because they would have much more data than they should.

Yes there would have to be restrictions on who can access the info and for what purposes. And once an election has been certified and no challenges raised (and maybe even after the person takes office) that data can be purged from the record.*

No perfect system, but I'd rather have an honest system with an outside chance of loss of anonymity than a perfectly anonymous system that's easy to cheat.



*My other idea is that all voting rolls are purged after every election and you have to re-register before the next election if you want to continue voting.
