So who has used which sources for frame parts, slide parts, kits, etc.?

Would a person be better off going with an assembled upper, or does it matter?

G17 will be the first effort, if that matters. I have just about driven myself crazy researching the multitude of options, so looking for some input from those with more experience.

Thanks

I have used both Rock your Glock and Aim Surplus for parts are parts converting my 22lr Glock 17 into a 9mm configuration.

I liked the g17 slide that Aim was selling about a year ago that had mimicked the ones found on TimberWolf slides. Aim had the optic ready slides that seemed to be a good deal for "cheap". Timber/Alpha wolf style would have been my choice for a pre-built one but they were out of stock in the configuration I wanted. I picked up a number of internal parts from Rock your glock when some of the aftermarket ones did not play nice.

Note: TimeberWolf slide was prior to Alpha wolf slide made by (or contracted by) Lone Wolf Dist. A while back they changed the side configuration not to have front and back grip areas without spending extra on custom machining. The earlier generation of Lone Wolf Dist barrels were a bit more hit/miss on good accuracy. I think for the Alpha Wolf seemed to have better reviews.

Everyone and their cousin these days.

I?ve sourced parts from Midway and Brownells, Lone Wolf, Rock Your Glock, Aim Surplus, etc.

Rainier, Arm or Ally, Primary Arms and other places may have stuff as well.

I do prefer to run factory Glock small parts- trigger bars, springs, strikers, etc.

Slides and barrels, assuming they are made to correct specs, I?m okay with.

Brownells and Aim seem to have good slides for low prices if you want to keep costs down.

Most of mine are running the Alpha Wolf barrels from Lone Wolf. Not the cheapest you can get but definitely won?t break the bank either.

Thanks for the input so far.

I'm not well schooled on Gaston's pride and joy, so all the info helps.
