The landscape has changed a bit since I last looked at 9mm ARs.... What's your favorite 9mm Glock Mag lower and why?
My intent: Build a suppressed 9mm SBR that uses glock mags, since I have a boatload of glock mags.
As we all know, when you have extra parts lying around, you must turn them into a functioning firearm ASAP. [Coffee]

I looked at building my own and ended up with a Foxtrot Mike FM9 5.5” complete pistol. For the price, I couldn’t build one cheaper myself so I went with that. Runs great with or without a suppressor.

I bought the Spikes, purely because I wanted a spider roll stamp.
The New Frontier sets are nice
My Joe Bob Outfitters 9mm upper n low combo has been a workhorse. Also have a Spikes combo that works swell too.

No experience with a surpressor, but a standard lower with a stern defense mag well ran flawlessly

JBO is very likely a rebranded New Frontier

Just stick with a spikes tactical lower, upper, and bolt.
JBO is very likely a rebranded New Frontier
Most likely, it looks just like it and when I asked the sales person said that they were made by a well respected company. Anyway I built it up with kaw valley parts and have been very happy with it.

I built exactly this on a Quarter Circle 10 lower.
Very high TactiCool factor. :)

Quarter Circle 10 and Foxtrot Mike are the two I'd buy again. Out of about 10 that I have used either for myself or helping friends get one together, they have been the best.
KE, New Frontier, on a few samples, had some small QC issues. Some I could fix, each had a receiver the owner had to send in for repair, and one for replacement from KE. KE was great to work with and made it right, probably a fluke. I do have a Mean Mag (not durable) and Stern (very good, but expensive) insert for standard AR15 lowers too. The nice thing about the Stern is that one could have one SBR stamped lower.

dedicated lower, joebob, frontier, spikes etc, or stern mag adapter. I've had them all, w/out any issues, got bored and sold them. That one SP linked is a deal of the day, buy, you can't go wrong with.
I just use my regular old lower and EndoMag inserts.
...EndoMag inserts.
...announced 15 seconds after I got the stamp for my lower... :)

so anyone play with an Aero Precision epc style lower?
Y'all are not helping my pocket book. [MG]
Are the Foxtrot Mike lowers usually sold as rifle, pistol or other?

I have a Diamondback DB9R that works great with and without a suppressor. I rarely shoot it now due to my Colt SBR 9mm getting out of jail but still take it out on occasion. Only issue is bolt lock back with Magpul mag. It works fine with factory Glock and the one it came with.
What are thoughts on Aero lowers?

Aero 9mm lowers or just Aero Lowers in general?

Aero 9mm dedicated. Saw one at Tanner last weekend. I would just stick with Spikes and have a dedicated bolt, upper and lower from the same manufacturer.

I cerakoted an Aero 9 setup for someone, and while I didn't shoot it, it did look nice and reports are that it functions fine. Don't know anything beyond that

I'm "someone" now!?
I built this for my cousin, the cerakote job was super nice. The Aero buffer and spring are good for a regular mil-spec tube. The buffer tube for this PDW brace was a little short so I had to file the plastic off of the buffer a little bit.
Bolt didn't hold open on the last round but bending the little wire inside the upper receiver solved that.
I personally run a Colt pattern and never had any issues.

Reviving this thread to see if there are any new opinions in the last 4 years. Looking to actually make this a reality in the next few months.

I just read through the whole thread. I think the opinions expressed previously still stand. However, I want to expand my previous answer.
Option 1 is to get an upper and a mag-well converter to use an existing AR lower. This works fine.
Option 2 is to get a dedicated lower. I have built a few of these now and recommend getting a glock mag pattern lower for simplicity, chosen for the roll stamp you prefer, and going for a Sharps Bros dedicated lower if you want to go all-in on a different look. I have a handful of the Sharps Bros lowers just because they are different.
Side note, I built a side-charging upper for a .45ACP build a few years back and think that's a good way to go for a PCC. Like the Sharps Bros lowers, I built one just because it was different. All AR pattern rifles look the same, so something different was appealing to me.

I do like my FM9, but the QC-10 is hard to beat. Slapped this thing together and put the final touches on it.

Glock pattern over Colt pattern every day of the week! They feed so much better.

Hard to beat... so you're saying you like the QC-10 better? Can you slap any 9mm upper on the QC-10 lower?

In terms of aesthetics, yes, hard to beat. Functionality, there really isn’t a difference. Any 9mm upper will bolt onto it. I believe Quarter Circle is out of business though so finding one of their lowers may be difficult.

QC 10 is very nice. If you're interested in a side charging stripped upper, for a build. i have a few collecting dust somewhere in the shop.

I still have my CMMG lower and BCG that I bought back in 2014, and it still functions after thousands of rounds, with various different upper builds. It's staying old school for now.

An AUG in 9mm would be very cool.

Agreed. Not sure how the ergonomics would work with glock mags though - the angle of the mag is all wrong haha
