That got away? not a chick, but a gun (duh). I have been looking for a Ruger Alaskan 44 forever. This is the one that I almost bought 10 times when you could find them in store but life got in the way? I am ready to buy, new or used, at a reasonable price (not MSRP x 10, just like the 21? Bronco).

15 of 'em on Gun Broker.
Keep lowball bidding, eventually you'll get one. That's how I finally got a CZ at a decent price. It took several months.
I almost bought an Alaskan 454 Casull. Then I woke TFU.

Last time I had a craving and was looking for a hard to find item I broke down and used Armslist. I know, but if you focus on only businesses, like pawn shops and do your due diligence to see if they’re for real it can be helpful.

It’s up the road. Not sure if it’s the right one you’re looking for. But might be worth the phone call.

Was just looking at one on the OK Shooters Forum: https://www.okshooters.com/threads/ruger-alaskan-super-redhawk-lowered-price.322458/#post-3661599
Happy hunting.
I?d just tie a cinder block onto my belt and walk around pretending I had one.

Thanks all for the insights. I really want to buy local and try to avoid anything like gun broker or similar.

two listed on guns.com. You pick which FFL to ship to during checkout.
$1,270 and $1,280. Don't see any listed on galleryofguns

Great gun.
Its what I carry up here. Tried a Glock 10mm and found out the round I had chambered for a season was a dud when I was at the range. Tried a 500 magnum, but that thing is just too damn heavy to carry around fishing, hunting, etc. Went back to the Ruger Alaskan that I bought for the move up here and havent looked back.
When you find one, and if its something you plan on carrying around the wilds of Highlands Ranch for rabid squirrel protection, I suggest the Kenai chest holster.

Second that!

Damn squirrels are pure evil at the ranch!

Let me check with my friends wife, he passed away and one of the guns he had was a Ruger Alaskan in .44 mag.
I know she was going to sell all the guns, not sure if it has been sold yet or not

Option B for a carry rig. You'll still need a holster, which Rob makes as well, obviously. It's another (like HBars holsters) small business, that has the gun owner in mind. Being local he's fitted a few holsters for me, since they needed to clear / not interfere with my prosthetic.

If she hasn’t sold them yet, see if you can help her put together a list of items and prices… I bet she’d sell a ton of them quickly with your connections on here.

Unfortunately, the wife is not a fan of most of Bob's friends, me included. But one friend has been helping her since his passing, and I am reaching out to him.
He had gotten rid of a lot of his guns in the last couple of years, and only had a few left, I just know the Ruger Alaskan was one of them that was left.
