Looking for input on trijicon accupower or accupoint systems. Not interested in low power acogs or red dots. Minimum magnification would be the 3x9 model with more interest in the 4-14 or 5-20 models. This info is seemingly on existent on the trijicon website and distributors websites. Looking for info on the size of the dot or triangle either in moa or mills. Reticle design of either the triangle post or crosshair center dot/mildot.

color selection is also up for grabs with a preference towards red. What works best for outdoor matches shot under shade, specifically silhouette? Would the dot/triangle obscure a 3-4 moa steel target at full magnification? I understand that all these scopes are second focal plane to my understanding. I am looking for a center dot or crosshair only illuminated magnified optic, not the entire reticle.

I would really love to see one in person before buying as they are fairly pricey for what they are and local inventory seems pretty sparse atm.

They are good scopes. They're Japanese made by LOW (light optics works). The glass is good and they track. For nearly any type of rifle shooting, I would recommend a 1st focal plane scope with a graduated reticle (hash-marks)(mil or moa). They are superior and easier to shoot with.

Nightforce NX8 is another good option.

What Pedro said. A reticle without some hash marks is going to make shooting in the wind harder than it needs to be, and it's plenty hard with the right scope.

Out of curiosity, why the preference for such a simplified reticle? Not saying you're wrong, just wondering about the thinking behind it.

Nightforce NX8 4-32 is an awesome scope! I use one for my 22 lr prs/nrl vudoo and like it a lot, great reticle in the milxt with fantastic glass quality. However it is more $ than I want to spend for a one trick pony rifle that is only used for nra smallbore metallic silhouette shooting. The other knock against it is it’s weight at 27oz, I need something at 23-24 oz or less to make weight restrictions in hunter rifle class. Getting 30mm rings in the extra extra tall height for an 11mm rail is also a challenge.

For this specific game what I am after is a high magnification red dot as all 4 range distances are known and you dial elevation for each range and leave it there for 10 shots. Take a 2 minute break, set up for next range set of ten and repeat. Targets are around 3-4 moa at each distance. Wind holds are around 1/2 the target width at most as our longest range is 100 meters or 109 yards, so just holdover best you can from a standing unsupported position (not precision shooting here, my wobble zone is about double the target size). I’d like as uncluttered as possible reticle with only the center illuminated. Hope that explains what I am looking for and so far the only scopes that I’ve found to meet these criteria are the trijicon accu lines.

Aha. Figured there was a story behind the slightly unusual requirements.

Finally found the reticle sizes, trijicon really buries this info on their website and still doesn’t define distance for this value.

The dots in the crosshair models range from .125, .2, .3 and .4 moa dots with most models being the .2 moa dot. That is pretty small as the “premiere” leupold silhouette ( no longer in production) scope ,the FX-3 fixed 25x, had either a 3/8 or 1/2 moa center dot

I can only give some input on the 1-4 Accupoint.

Overall I have been super happy with it. Glass clarity is great and the triangle reticle is very crisp. I have it on my my 14.5” BCM “do all” “go to” rifle.

The biggest complaint I have with it is when it comes to hold overs. In the lower power 1-4 the triangle reticle is 4.2 MOA. What the diagrams you posted above don’t show is that the “post” the triangle sits on is actually black. The triangle is not “floating” and you can’t see underneath it. The post is slightly wider than the triangle which the diagrams actually shows. Depending on the distance and target size, the post will completely cover the target and you can’t see how far over you are holding.

Good to see in the higher magnifications the MOAs are smaller.
