Man accused of fatal shooting, home invasions, carjackings, crashes around Denver, Aurora

https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/man-accused-of-fatal-shooting-home-invasions-carjackings-crashes-around-denver-aurora

In a span of 70 minutes, a single perp committed:

1 Murder
1 Attempted Murder
2 Robberies
3 Home Invasions
5 Car Jackings

(My totals may be a bit off due to overlapping crimes)

Why didn't SOMEBODY shoot him?

Good Grief!

Wow!

APD said they believe the suspect then broke into two homes. The first was along the 1200 block of S. Memphis Street

Dad's house was on the corner of that block.

I am very glad he's not around to see the increase in crime in that area.

The apartments mentioned have always been a shithole. We used to buy pot from a guy there in the late 80's and it was rough then. Expect the cops every Friday and Saturday nights.

There was government housing a block or so to the east and that was an area to avoid. There were whispers of gangs controlling it.

I went to Jewell Elementary and Gateway High schools, so I knew the area very well.

Sad to see the decline. It seems something bad goes down at least monthly in that area.

We moved near Mississippi and Chambers right before I started senior in high school. I got lucky and went to old school, because I was a senior. Or I would had to go to Gateway.

I carried all day and I'm currently in one of the most remote areas of Colorado. Biggest threats are thieves, poachers, arrogant ranchers and mountain lions, not necessarily in that order.

Fwiw, I always carry in Denver.

The tread title is what I asked myself when the Boulder King Soopers shooting that killed ten people happened. I thought of the many times that I shopped there, and the more regular shopping there by friends and family. And, what if I had been there at that time, in the right time and place? You never know. I could have been a victim of the perp, or even of the prosecutors.

Of note is that the Dems controlling the Colorado legislature promptly passed a law allowing any governing body from counties, municipalities and special districts to outlaw concealed carry and ensure that all citizens under their jurisdiction would be potential victims.

I thought for sure by now we would have seen significant activity in that area. I wonder if the Hurley event threw some cold water on that idea- something did.

Maybe so but I wouldn't expect Dem politicos to view that young man's actions as widely known enough to be politically important, or as heroic and tragic as they really were.

The clock is ticking on a whole lot of bad, unconstitutional stuff yet to come from the Colorado legislature and their minions in minorly governments.

Only 3 years since we moved to AZ. Honestly, outside the friends we made. There's not a day goes by i regret moving, when we did.

24/7 I never leave the house with out. With living in a liberal commie controlled state now I would never get involved with any situation unless some one was directly threatening my family or my self.

I bet there was plenty of forewarning that this was a "bad guy" before this string of events.

They learned that the right will largely ignore everything else.

So, they are leaving guns alone while they go after everything else we hold dear. We've lost freedoms left and right over the last 2 years. But's it's cool, cause they left guns alone.

And to answer the OP, just because people carry, doesn't mean they will actually defend themselves or others. Who knows how many people leave their gun in their waistband as bad things are happening.

Damn shame, murder, attempted murder, home invasion and car jackings. Those are prime ways to get yourself gone. He was ripe for the picking... now it seems he'll rot on the vine. Probably do it all over again in 10 years.

I carry anytime I leave the house. The wife and I have access to a firearm when we are home.
If someone is not threatening me or mine directly and is not in my line of sight, I will not go looking for a fight. I will call 911 while getting myself and my wife the heck out of there! I carry for my protection. I am not a police officer and have zero interest in getting into a fight of any kind.
However, if I see someone abusing a child or a woman, for some reason I seem to step in to stop it. My wife doesn’t like it but she understands.

The character kicked in a door and pistol whipped the owner on the block where Dad lived.

He would have been 80 this year and while he had guns in the house, it doesn't sound like he would have had time to get to them.

It has made me think about safety and carrying and all that a lot today.

It is easy to say what you will do when it happens to you, in theory. But in the heat of the moment, no one can accurately predict how they would react.

Random shit like this is very scary and humbling. Especially when it hits that close to home.

I always carried until my surgery.....feel naked without it.

I haven't carried since because I don't feel I can safely draw/produce and effectively operate a hot pistol yet. When the time comes, I will be carrying again.

I work just south of where this all started.

A few weeks ago Aurora PD had come by, and instituted a community meeting of business owners. They told us we were in the top crime district in Aurora.

It is safe to say however, it would be a tragic mistake to enter this home with bad intentions.

This is correct. It probably helps to have been pretty far down the checklist a few times in the past.

It also helps to be prepared. When pants go on, gun goes in pocket.

In an unsurprising update...

https://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/carjacking-victim-shot-and-killed-in-aurora-crime-spree-identified

The man police accuse of pulling the trigger was identified Sunday as Andrew Jacobs, 32. He's accused of shooting and killing Albarracin Albarracin during a carjacking at the Florida Station Apartments, 14082 E. Iowa Drive, amid a series of crimes in and around the city of Aurora.

Jacobs was apprehended by Denver police and transported to the hospital for injuries he sustained following one of two crashes he’s accused of causing during a crime spree that police said included armed robbery, at least two home invasion robberies, and several other carjackings in the span of just a few hours.

"I’ve never seen a crime spree that’s involved in this many carjackings, home invasions, and a homicide. This is unreal. This is unheard of," said APD Agent Matthew Longshore on Wednesday.

Jacobs’ criminal record obtained by Denver7 is nine pages long and includes arrests and charges going back to 2007 for drugs, theft, burglary, and escape.

I carry every single day, everywhere I go, legal or not.

I have also upped the training game since the plandemic kicked off. Some of the most valuable information in the training classes was talking with some of our local Officers and listening to what's actually going on out there.

I've ended up with 2 stolen abandoned vehicles on my commercial property. Trailer was broken into. My back door has been pryed on multiple times. And the cart pushers have more than doubled around here. I normally chase a car dweller or 2 off the property every month when I come in at 4am. Getting silly out there.

Watch your surroundings and keep your nose outta your phone.
