This Brit pretty much consolidated about 98 episodes from Gun Jesus (Youtube: Forgotten Weapons) into 20 minutes. And came to the conclusion we all know...an AR-15 is not an assault rifle. It's a good quick history lesson.

MrPrena is correct, although it could also be called, "Awesome Rifle".

On the serious side it?s just the abbreviation for Armalite, not Armalite Rifle.. Armalite made other firearms that weren?t rifles that still used the AR prefix.

AR-9 shotgun
AR-13 multi barrel gun for aircraft
AR-17 shotgun
AR-22 blank firing device for mk19 grenade launcher
AR-23 sub caliber training device for mk19 grenade launcher
AR-24 9mm pistol

It's the rifle Rittenhouse had when he was assaulted.

MrPrena

its NOT Armalite

it is Armalite Rifle on Armalite website.

All rifles were designated AR, short for Armalite Rifle. Shortly thereafter, Armalite submitted the AR-5, .22 Hornet Survival Rifle to the U.S. Air Force as a replacement for their then-standard survival rifle.

Simon Whistler is surprisingly pro-gun for a brit (though from the way he says "here" referring to the USA he seems to reside in somewhere in the US.)

He did a "top tenz" about guns that debunked a lot of the common myths like "it's easy to buy a gun."

I concur. Not surprising though. He's presented a lot of historical videos and has observed what happens when people are disarmed.

ANYTHING when used correctly, IS an assault weapon.

ANYTHING on the paper when the bill is signed is an "assault weapon". Heck, Ohio Democrats proposed a bill (SB 260) a couple of years ago making any semiautomatic firearm capable of accepting a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds an "assault weapon", which would make an Glock 43 an "assault weapon".

As is a Ruger 10/22.

Has anything that they want to term as an "assault weapon" been used for legitimate self-defense? Oh, it has? Request denied.

All my rifles are Assault Rifles.

The entire reason for having an armed citizenry is to negate the necessity of a standing Military, a large central government, and a massive law enforcement/surveillance regime. Well, we failed at all of those key points to keeping a Republic, but, the stooges at upper mid management forgot to take the 2A out of the Constitution, or announce formally that the Constitution ceased to exist, So, here we are.

The Marxists picked the words, then made all of us waste a bunch of time and energy climbing over ourselves arguing about THEIR terms and definitions. We have witnessed Arms companies label their AR-15 pattern rifles MSR, and political hacks attempt to convince the gullible that there is nothing even a little bit similar about a DOD issued M4A1 and the typical AR-15 owned by the Private Citizen. Screw that! Yes, these AR-15 rifles are in fact assault rifles, and you know why? Because if they are ever used to defend life or Liberty they will be doing so in an extremely effective and violent manner. The rounds fired from the AR-15 owned by Mr. Rittenhouse that hit The Communist Agitator Gage Grosskruetz, Convicted Child Molester Joseph Rosenbaum, and career Criminal Anthony Huber did not do so in a sporting fashion. They were not used for hunting game animals, or punching holes in paper or clanging steel, they did what they were designed and intended to do. They ARE Weapons of War, that is the entire point of the Second Amendment, that Freemen might be armed, and by so doing, remain Free Men.

They absolutely are; 'He brought a gun to a fist fight.' 'Everybody takes a beating some time.' 'Didn't have to shoot him in the bicep with an AR-15. The other guy had a little gun and he only had one hand on it (while pointing it at his head)'.

Well, on Saturday Night Live, the opening skit said Rittenhouse had an AK-47 vs an AR-15 style rifle as described by the press, so I guess the descriptions are interchangeable now.
Thank you SNL

I rolled in late last night, still hyped from a long drive, turned on SNL. Ugh. It was awful. And farther left than normal (for them).

BTW, I have an assault-fork. Do I have to register it with the ATF?

I am not a fan of SNL and missed most of the decades of shows (since 1975 can you believe).
Lately, I have been catching the opening skit to see what is their take of the most important thing that happened during the prior week.
Not really a thoughtful decision, just comes on after the 9:00 Saturday news on Channel 9

I thought it was hilarious when California and other states placed the M-1 Garand on the list of assault weapons. Well, yes, the Garand WAS an assault weapon ... 70 years ago. At the time, it was probably the most formidable standard issue infantry weapon in the world.

Words and videos used the way the Left does today can also be assault weapons. The tweets and videos issued by Antifa or Representatives Omar and Tlaib have done far more damage to peoples' lives and livelihoods than any of the firearms I may or may not have owned.
