Anyone know if the Harris Park range is open? Or have they closed the road up to the range from the Town? Thanks for any help, Jim

It is usually closed by now but you can still hike up if you want.

Harris park has re-opened!

Oh thank God! That is where I go almost every time. I have been dying to get out lately but haven't. Guess its time to head up real soon.

If you live in Lakewood and go there, then I need to look that place up.

There just isn't much around here. I don't like the indoor ranges too much - they cost a lot and are too strict/stupid. Takes me about 45 minutes to get to the Harris Park range. Can get out a couple hundred yards for the rifles and easy to set up targets for the pistols. Nice secluded spot. If you get there early on Saturdays or Sundays, it usually pretty empty. If you don't go til 10 AM though, its can get pretty busy.

So, does anyone know for a fact that the FS has finished up its tree cutting and Harris Park is open?
Hate to make the drive only to find it still closed.

I was going to try to get up there this morning (decided last night) but I'm not sure how to get there or if it's even open. Sounds like a great little spot. I guess today I'll lake a left at Pine Valley Rd and go 14.5ish miles to that spot there. I hate that spot. Too small and too many people.

Yep, been to that spot you're talking about. Too small, basically only good for pistolas.

These are the directions I found to the shooting area at Harris Park.

"The Harris Park area is much larger (100-200 yards). You take 285 to 43, take the fork in the road to I think 47…you will know when you see it. Keep going through housing until you reach the little town of Harris Park, Make a right before the white fire station, make a left at the fishing pond, proceed through the forest service sign and keep going. The road comes to a T, and you make a right. You will take the next left and it leads to the shooting area".
