I have it on good authority that my wife will be buying a "tactical" flashlight of some type (hopefully a genuine Surefire but I doubt it) for me as a Christmas gift. I want to mount it to the magazine tube of my Remington 870. I get frequent night time visits to the hen house from the local coyote population out here in the sticks where I live. Typically, the dog will tip me off to their presence, but since he can see in the dark as where I cannot, I have to use a flashlight. Trying to manipulate a 3 D cell Maglight and a shotgun at the same time is challenging. Hence my desire to mount a bright flashlight to the gun.
I'm wondering if anybody here who is more familiar with "tactical" stuff like this can give me a reccomendation of what type of mount to buy. The flashlight will be 1" diameter and I want to mount it to the magazine tube rather than the forearm if possible.
Thanks in advance.
More info brother... do you want to mount it on the bottom/side? Do you have a front pistol grip? If you knew the specific flashlight it'd be a great help. To start off in the right area thugh check out the Surefire website. They have several mounting options at different prices. Also, TacStar does as well. Course Ducttape always works too... HAHA.

Ha! Thanks BigBear! Duct tape is too redneck even for me!
I'd like to mount it to the mag tube underneath without it being on either side. I don't have a front pistol grip, just a strait stock forearm. I guess I could screw a Picatinny rail to the forearm if I had to, I was just envisioning some type of mount which clamps on to the tube. I mean, if that kind sucks, I'm not married to the idea.
Maybe I should wait and see what it actually turns out to be and go from there...

That's what I would suggest, but to get you started check out:

Buy a one piece weaver scope mount and J-B Weld it to the barrel just forward of the grip, or elsewhere.

you can either go with a tri-railed forearm, which are anywhere from $30 and up.
Or, mesa tactical offers some barrel clamps that can clamp onto the barrel, the mag extension, or both and can have rails mounted on. You can then buy a 1" light attachment or just use some scope rings.
I'm going with the railed forearm so I can keep the light close to my hand even when pumping.
