20 years ago we drove from Hilo to mauna Kea in February. 80s in Hilo to 20s and snow. About an hour drive.

Not to get into a rude & pointless pissing match: but...once you exceed the tolerable living elevation of libtards: textbook chemistry, engineering, and physics start to "amazingly" apply [ROFL1]
Well, we seriously need snow in the mountains and throughout Colorado. But in lieu of that I might be satisified with warm water and beautiful Hawaiian girls on the sandy shore in front of the cabin.

Global Warming
I was complaining about the lack of rainfall this summer. Well....that changed in a big way. With the record rainfall and flooding in the PNW, I guess we're getting your moisture. Rainier is completely white down to the lower 3-4,000 feet.
