I wonder what kind of 'Public Art Pieces' will be cast from this melted down treasure.

Charlottesville Robert E. Lee statue to be melted down for public art project (nypost.com) (https://nypost.com/2021/12/08/charlottesville-robert-e-lee-statue-to-be-melted-down-for-public-art-project/)

It's hard to understand how ignorant some city leaders are. Disgraceful.

You can bet this BLM chapter would sell it in a heartbeat for enough money, sleaze bags in my opinion.

From the article,

“Our hope with ‘Swords into Plowshares’ is to create something that transforms what was once toxic in our public space into something beautiful that can be more reflective of our entire community’s social values,” the center’s executive director Andrea Douglas said. “We’re giving people opportunities to engage with our own narratives and our own histories. This project offers a road map for other communities to do the same.”

We'll just make up some shit. History doesn't matter.... Next, the community will wonder why the children's education is so poor.

You know the Daughters of the Confederacy are the ones who funded 99.9% of the statutes of Civil War Confederate figures.
Unless they specifically donated them to their respective states/municipalities this woul be Destruction of Private Property.

But I suppose another statute of "Saint Floyd" is more important....

The main Robert E Lee statue is/was in downtown Richmond VA.
I was born there and lived there until age 19.
In my youth and maybe even now Richmond was more than 50% black.
Nobody was offended, nobody defaced the statues, we had a whole street called Monument Ave, there were many civil war statues.
Went back to Richmond in 2019 and on my visit had dinner with my 1st grade( that was 43 years ago) teacher.
She is black and has lived in Richmond her entire life. This shit was just getting started so it came up in conversation.
Her experience was that the statues were not offensive in any way and in her 80 years of being black in Richmond never met another black person that was offended by the statues.
She said it was history, nothing else.

It usually takes liberal white females, finding things about which to be outraged and complain, to be offended about history on behalf of blacks. Once there's some outrage, there's money to be made and the usual crowd of race-baiting grifters will join in to get paid.
