Let me tell you about the best range in Colorado, the state's largest multi-use gun club with the best staff in Colorado just outside of Colorado Springs. Pikes Peak Gun Club. https://pikespeakgunclub.org/
PPGC is accepting new members, so no worries about being on a phony 'waitlist'
140 acres of fun, with a shotgun course so good that the annual state championships are held there.
On a monthly basis PPGC hosts Soco3gun, Front Range IPDA, a USPSA, and there's a monthly .22 steel plate match where all ages are welcome. Check out the details on the club calendar, available at the club home page.
There's a safety program that will help you get your NRA safety cert, and as a certed safety you can earn free range time in a very generous program.
There are special use berms available where you can setup your own targets and shoot at steel.
PPGC has full time employees and a professional range manager.

Yawn. Limited to 200 yards for rifles?

Correct. The longest rifle range at PPGC is 200y. The shotgun walking course takes the bulk of available land. Across the hardball (94) is Aztec motocross park, and next door to Aztec is RAM offroad park.

They have Bunker trap (Intl). Not many of those in colorado.

Much appreciate the offer. I try to make it out to CRC two or three times a year so I can justify keeping my membership.

140 acres of fun,.

i'm no math wiz, but i think the 2600 acres at CRC is larger than 140 acres at PPGC

Whittington Center: 33,300 Acres.

Whittington Center: 33,300 Acres. That's not fair, nothing really compares to WC. Whittington Center is a national treasure and one of the 7 wonders of the shooting world :)

It is kind of a bummer that with 140 acres they only have 200y rifle. We shoot our 22's farther than that...

Correct. The fair comparison would be to https://crci.org/, which is SIGNIFICANTLY larger (2565 Acres). Also open membership. Lacking trap, but much longer distances available for rifle and a LOT more berms for pistol and carbine. RV pads as well.

Both have their pluses and minuses.

PPGC is the largest multi-use club in the state. CRC is not in the same category.

I thought we were just measuring d*cks. :)

Ok, seriously, how about the Cameo range? 2000 acres, ranges up to 2000 yards. Hosted the IDPA nationals at least once.

Yes O2, Cameo is magnificent. NOTHING in the state is even close. Pike's Peak certainly is worth a nod into the top 5. :) We should be glad we have choices and not trying to put any of them up or down. They serve their areas well and give choices.

What is the definition of multi-use in this case?

You are the one hard pimping out the multi-use angle, you tell us. The website just states multi use on the home page (I looked), but there is nothing special touted about being multi use, whatever that is.

It’s focus is a great shotgun sports range with some centerfire berms and ok clubhouse. Windy, and dusty as hell when windy, just like CRC. It is the only Colorado range I’ve been on that cancelled midway through day two of a class due to wind blown dirt clogging both semi auto and bolt actions to failure.

I am happy there are multiple ranges to serve COS, I shot high school trap out there in the 80’s with Al
Porter as our coach.

You started a post mentioning it was a multi-use cluib, then in another post cited it was a multi-use club, which made it superior to Colorado Rifle Club, but you can't define what that is?

I said CRC was in a different category, otherwise PPGC wouldn't be able to make that claim. No one said better/worse. There are many fine clubs in Colorado.

I like the tag!

I?d rather drive to Royal Gorge Gun Club. I can shoot up to a mile there, shoot house, trap range, tactical lane, multiple rifle and pistol ranges, night fire, etc.

200 yards is for zeroing, not training.

that being said, PPGC is certainly an option for local solutions in COS. Better than dealing with the DoD FUDDS at Cheyenne Mountain. Lol

Nice sales pitch. Good to see you even got a dig in against the other Colorado Springs shooting club. What's your role within the club?

I think we should all be happy to have more clubs rather than less. If they expanded their long range rifle ranges I would definitely consider joining, because that's the only game I play.

I have no formal role or title at PPGC, I'm just an all around cool guy.
No digs intended at any other clubs and I know there are a few others in Colorado Springs and none of the commercial clubs have waitlists as far as I know. I could say nice things about most of them, but not the one where people catch skips and rics.
I don't see PPGC opening a longer rifle range, it's too close to town. I don't mind the tradeoff of proximity to town but not being able to stretch out.
I pay dues at an indoor club in town with great staff and the schedule is full of fun. One of my favorite places to go. It's so nice, I bring my s/o there and she has discriminating taste.

I *was* a member of PPGC for years. When they cut back on their open days (some more!) it motivated me to quit them.
