A legend and a true Patriot. He will be missed.

I first heard about him in the early 90's from a guy I worked with that wanted to be a SEAL but had flat feet.

His autobiography was very entertaining. His fiction was okay, pretty formulaic.

What a life that guy lived.

He was a real warrior.

Thanks for the notice.
I enjoyed his books, his stories, and his enthusiasm.
Another character has been lost.

I had the opportunity to meet him a few times. Interesting character. The second time I met with him I gave him a bottle of Bombay Sapphire.

I haven't read his books in almost 10 years. Not even sure what he's written since then.

While his fictional exploits were off the charts, his real-life contribution to our nation definitely earned our respect.

Rest in Peace Dick.

RIP

His autobiography was an interesting read. His active duty spanned a time when our military was transitioning from Cold War doctrine, tactics , and equipment to the early ancestors of what our military uses today.

Not long after my release from active duty, I found out from a buddy that he and his team launched a simulated attack on our permanent duty station. In the mock attack headquarters, several squadron hangers, and our barracks would have been destroyed. I heard heads rolled after that. It's not hard to imagine he had people pissed off at him.

I was enlisted and met him at a book signing the day admiral Boorda was murdered. RIP Mike
