California bill.
The bill, AB 173 (https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB173), ?requires? that ?various data relating to crimes and firearms? be shared with the California Firearm Violence Research Center at UC Davis along with ?any other nonprofit? accredited by the United States Department of Education.
"...the state of California is giving personal information like your name, your address, your place of birth, your phone number, your social security number? all this personal information to institutions that don?t have firewalls in place to protect them from the general public,?...
And they wonder why ghost guns have become so appealing
Would doxing all the politicians who voted for this be a bad thing?

Well when a local paper in upstate NY listed those with gun permits. Suddenly the names, address, contact info of the editor, writers and a few other paper employees info was given out. Those why outed the gun owners, were not too happy, it happened to them.
Imagine how much better of a state this country would be in with zero non profits.

I agree. The problem is when government starts feeding them.
Look at when non profits became a thing, and it will make more sense.

It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning. - From, My Life and Work a biography of Henry Ford Sr.

The problem is that the Left has learned to misuse the term "non-profit". We (normal people) think of non-profits as charities like St. Jude's or food banks and community organizations like our local churches or Boys and Girls Club or 4H. They think of non-profits as tools for political and social change -- and a neat way to launder the money for political purposes because they can write off the "donations" to these organizations.
After seeing how the Left has misused non-profits for the last 30 years, I'd be good with eliminating the tax provisions for them. It wouldn't change my donations one whit but I bet it would hurt Commie organizations like People for the (un)American Way, Bloomberg's Every Town underground, and BLM when Hollyweird and the other coastal liberal elites could no longer count their donations as tax deductions.
