Howard Hessman has passed on due to complications from colon surgery. He was 81 years old.
RIP and God speed.
RIP. I loved WKRP, clever show, well written, great cast. Mr. Hesseman did a great job with his character.

God bless him, may he rest-in-peace. WKRP was one of those shows from the 70's that was under-rated, but it was a great sitcom. The great turkey drop episode still makes me laugh to this day.

Other than seeing it listed in the TV guide as a kid, my knowledge of this show and character is essentially zero. Interesting how people have such a wide range of media exposure. RIP.

Well I recently turned 65, worked at my university's radio station (the AM-sunrise to sunset-side where I worked played jazz and NPR programming, FM is classical plus the NPR programming), graduated in '79 so it was pretty popular with the crowd I hung out with.
Yeah, the turkey drop episode was hysterical. I also loved how Les Nessman (Richard Sanders) made pretend he had walls and a door and demanded everyone always "knock" before "entering" his office-he also always had a bandaid somewhere visible on him, great running gag. Gordon Jump as Arthur Carlson was the ideal boss. Can't forget Loni Anderson of course but frankly I had a crush on Jan Smithers as Bailey. Frank Bonner's Herb Tarlek was the quintessential sleazy sales guy. Tim Reid's Venus Flytrap was smooooth. I'm laughing just thinking about some of the escapades. A great show at it's time.
