View Full Version : Fresh weight equivalent of freeze dried chicken, ground beef, and vegetables.
For example, Mountain House 28-oz cans of ground beef - what is the fresh ground beef equivalent weight? I can back into this answer by comparing the calorie content of the two forms of ground beef protein and fat components, does that sound like the best way to figure it out?

Depends how much you eat, per sitting. ;)
couple seconds of google.

That was a wasted "couple of seconds of google".
In case anyone wants the formula, here's what I got from Mountain House today regarding ground beef and chicken: 2 cups of dry product is equivalent to 1 pound of fresh. The ground beef is approximately 80/20. Nutritional content label has the information to determine how many cups of dry product are in the can.
Yup, wasted time.
