Looking to have some trigger work done on some 1911's.
Can you recommend a favorite smith?

Unfortunately, TJ's on Airport Rd. has closed and retired.

Trigger work is pretty simple anymore.

Drop in a high quality hammer and sear from EGW, SVI or Extreme Engineering and you should be really close to a perfect trigger.

I second this.

I used an Extreme Eng set on my 2011 build, and it is awesome.

I have done exactly this, bought 2 complete trigger groups and installed them, and while okay they can be better.
I sold a Gold Cup that had been worked, if I'm not mistaken by BP Tactical, and while the my current triggers are "ok", they arn't what that Gold Cup was.
I don't miss that gun exactly, but I do miss that trigger.

My favorite parts have been the Ed Brown Hardcore line, they were EDM machined from tool steel bar stock and were very stable dimensionally.
I don’t know if they still are, most stuff now is MIM to my knowledge.
Whoever said any parts on a 1911 besides grips, recoil spring and magazines are “drop in” was drinking their bath water. They might fit but will never be optimum.

Gimme a call Robb, I might have an idea or two.
