Gunbroker selling question

It's probably been at least 15 years since I sold an item through Gunbroker. Now I'm getting ready to do it again but I'm wondering: Can anyone point me to a good resource on staying legal? I'm looking to ship a long gun (rifle.)

My question is, back in the day, I (non-FFL) could ship TO an FFL via UPS. Is that still the case? Or does it now need to go Me ---> Local FFL ----> buyer's FFL ---> Buyer?

BTW, before anyone asks, yes, I WILL list it here first, HOWEVER, it's a pretty esoteric item so I don't expect it would appeal to anyone here (Marlin .444 Guide Gun with maybe 10 rounds through it.)

You might be surprised by the interest in a .444 here on the forum. Yes you can ship direct to an FFL in another state as long as that FFL agrees to accept it from you. Even though legal some FFLs don’t. Gunbroker will hit you up with fees, you might consider an ad on Guns International, flat rate $15 to place an ad.. I’ve had good luck there. I’d try here first though.

Yes, try here. I sent a PM. I love lever actions and need a big bore for the collection. I was looking at the new Ruger Marlin in .45-70 but have always liked the 444 as well.

If no success selling here follow longrange2's suggestion. GB has added all kinds of fees, now you have to collect tax as well for most states, it's become a mess. I used to be a member of the Marlin forum but that was years ago, don't own any now. Good luck! I last shipped a gun last month before FedEx changed their policy. It cost me $120. Had a shop ship one after that and it was half price, I like the fact it went from ffl to ffl but that's just me.

As people said. Many states requires to pay taxes now.
Fedex office takes long guns as long as you follow their policies.

Should disclose on gb:
1. Buyers pay taxes in most states.
2. Should disclose, buyers ffl must accept long guns from individual seller prior to purchase.
3. Disclose tax is collected per their state law. Some dumbass will get mad that you are collecting taxes, and lead to non-paying bidder/buyer.

LOTS of stories on other forums about scams on Gunbroker for both sellers and buyers. It seems to be getting better but I think you really need at least a dozen or two positive feedbacks to get a fair price as many won't bid on sellers with limited feedbacks. As a seller make sure all funds have cleared. Also note that GB is charging taxes from about 1/2 the states, so that can impact price depending on the state the buyer is in. Sounds like a nice gun!

Last gun I shipped I used shipmygun.com. It is part of buds guns. Saves you a ton compared to over the counter retail. Super easy. I’ve heard some use pirate ship too but I haven’t tried that yet myself.

I used to have an FFL that charged me $15 plus whatever USPS flat rate was for a box that fit but he retired. That’s why I tried ship my gun. I think it ended up being around $50 but I would have paid even more using my UPS or FEDEX accounts.

I have shipped one long gun via USPS - but that was less fun...it was a bad receiver that needed to go back to the MFG for a known tolerance issue.

For a good chance at selling "oddball" chambered weapons - the more eyes that can see it - often the better. And I would not be surprised if there are more than a few on this board that would love that rifle.

Right now my taste is sort of drawn to the Long Ranger series by Henry Rifles. One of the ones that is a lever action + magazine in 308 or 6.5. No real plans on getting one, mostly because of a lack of places to hunt white tail deer.

I have sold several high end shotguns and rifles on Gunbroker in recent months with no issues. Got really good prices on the auctions. Liberty Arms in Ft Collins will ship for a nominal fee.

I take them to one of the local pawn shops. They charge me 40-50 I charge the buyer 60.00 flat fee. Gunbroker charges the taxes so you have no control over that. Never had an issue with GB.

Instead of gunbroker. Or along with GB. Signup on mewe.com There's a few gun, ok a lot of gun, related sites to join. Unlike FB they welcome guns and related items, for discussion as well as sales. Having decent transactions, since i started there about 1.5 yrs ago.
