View Full Version : Decline of western civilization
These two headlines popped up on my phone and I found it amusing in a sad sort of way.
Basically, Russia threatens to invade Ukraine, the president of the United States bows up and threatens sanctions if it happens, Russia sends troops into the Ukraine while giving Biden a big middle finger, and now Biden is going to take a play from the covid vaccine playbook by redefining what invading a country actually means because he doesn?t actually want to back up his threat and would rather run along and sniff children.

Putin said sanctions would be considered an act of war …
Taiwan is next …
The only thing Biden is worried about is the interruption of his cash stream from Ukraine and other Eastern European countries…
Catharine the Great was there first. I'd leave Eastern Europe and Taiwan alone. Taiwan and China do plenty of trade between each other.

I believe the decline started. When they stopped advertising the Popeil Pocket fisherman, on t.v. .
it was that or,
Once car salesmen realized, Not everyone likes EV vehicles.

It's a mostly peaceful invasion.

I don't think you're that far off. At least the current administration and the MSM would like us to believe the hokey -pokey is what its all about. I think it has a lot more to do with approval ratings and smoke and mirrors.

Now the admin and the MSM are all saying inflation, the supply chain issues and rising fuel costs are all due to Russia. Seriously.
Big bad Russia has created every problem we have. It definitely wasn't bad Biden policy.
Shutdown American keystone pipeline on day one? No problem! It'll save the world!
Shutdown Russian Nordstrom pipeline? OMG!!!! Fuel prices are going to rise and it's all Russia's fault!!

Looks like Russia has started it's attack. Videos of explosions in Kyiv are coming out and Ukraine's operational command says their command centers are being hit with cruse and ballistic missile strikes. Sounds like Russian airborne forces are attempting to take control of the airport in Kyiv.
Wonder if this counts as a minor incursion??

The last year has been a master class in how damaging weak American leaders can be domestically and globally.
Biden reduces US oil production. Oil prices rise. Russia gets the benefit via petroleum sales to fund their war footing.
...but it's gotta' be somebody else's fault.
But Biden's got "sanctions" to stop the invasion. Hmm. I don't seem to recall sanctions stopping any country after decades of trying. Ukraine doesn't have decades.
Putin should make a play for some blue states. Who's going to stop him?

Funny thing is all the Trump policies and sanctions Brandon cancelled? They're implementing them all again now. Too little, too late.
Ukraine didn't stand a chance.

Sounds like all Ukrainian air defenses are gone, the air force is gone, navy is gone, drones are gone and airports are gone or taken over. In just a couple hours.
And Ukraine is handing out guns to everyone. Women, children and elderly. Some national defense strategy.
While we've been searching out white supremacists in the ranks (have any been found?) and making our military woke, Russia has been training for war.
US weakness was the catalyst. Next up, China takes Taiwan.

Remember when the Democrats loved them some Russians?
Pepperidge Farms remembers.
So I keep wondering to myself, isn't this just like the Cuban missile crisis, only the nations' roles are reversed?

The UN is going to condemn Russian aggression in the strongest possible terms and Ukraine will probably surrender in the next 48 hours.

Looking that way.
I'm hearing a bunch of talk about Chernobyl, wonder what the value is there

You probably could build a dirty bomb from that mess. The strategic point of power distribution for that region of Ukraine i.e. large grid infrastructure that is still in use.

I'm pretty sure if the Russians wanted to build a dirty bomb, it would just be easier to sweep the floor of a random siberian lab and empty the dustpan into a bucket containing c4. I don't really think they're aiming to disassemble the elephant's foot to just scatter it somewhere

I don't think Russia has any interest in Chernobyl. It's just happen to be on the way from where they're coming from to where they're going. Cover the NW approach to Kyiv from there.

Here's another thought. Maybe Russia thinks they're pretty safe stagging in Chernobyl because of there would be hesitation of bombing the area to fight back against Russian forces there.

So why’s Russia after Ukraine?
For those who ask: “Why does Ukraine matter? “
This is why Ukraine matters.
Being the second largest country by area in Europe and has a population of over 40 million, Ukraine ranks:
1st in Europe in proven recoverable reserves of uranium ores
2nd place in Europe and 10th place in the world in terms of titanium ore reserves
2nd place in the world in terms of explored reserves of manganese ores (2.3 billion tons, or 12% of the world's reserves)
2nd largest iron ore reserves in the world (30 billion tons)
2nd place in Europe in terms of mercury ore reserves
3rd place in Europe (13th place in the world) in shale gas reserves (22 trillion cubic meters)
4th in the world by the total value of natural resources
7th place in the world in coal reserves (33.9 billion tons)
Ukraine is an important agricultural country:
1st in Europe in terms of arable land area
3rd place in the world by the area of black soil (25% of world's volume)
1st place in the world in exports of sunflower and sunflower oil
2nd place in the world in barley production and 4th place in barley exports
3rd largest producer and 4th largest exporter of corn in the world
4th largest producer of potatoes in the world
5th largest rye producer in the world
5th place in the world in bee production (75,000 tons)
8th place in the world in wheat exports
9th place in the world in the production of chicken eggs
16th place in the world in cheese exports
Ukraine can meet the food needs of 600 million people.
Ukraine is an important industrialized country:
1st in Europe in ammonia production
Europe's 2nd’s and the world’s 4th largest natural gas pipeline system
3rd largest in Europe and 8th largest in the world in terms of installed capacity of nuclear power plants;l
3rd place in Europe and 11th in the world in terms of rail network length (21,700 km)
3rd place in the world (after the U.S. and France) in production of locators and locating equipment
3rd largest iron exporter in the world
4th largest exporter of turbines for nuclear power plants in the world
4th world's largest manufacturer of rocket launchers
4th place in the world in clay exports
4th place in the world in titanium exports
8th place in the world in exports of ores and concentrates
9th place in the world in exports of defence industry products
10th largest steel producer in the world (32.4 million tons)
Ukraine matters. That is why its independence is important to the rest of the world. These resources are why Russia is chomping at the bits to take it.
So, in the end, we're getting involved because of resources. So in the minds of Democrats: Fighting for oil, BAD! Fighting for titanium and uranium, GOOD!

So much would be really funny if it weren't true.
I wasnt aware we were getting involved. I am pretty sure the US has been hiding under a desk saying "It is not our problem if you rebuild the USSR, we promise not to intervene"

Think this has been the wests mentality towards it and the reason it is happening. Russia knows the west won?t do much. Stop buying their gas and oil? Good luck with that, the EU gets a lot of theirs from him. Plus they already did the deal with China shortly before this happened.
It?s a very sad situation all around.

When the USA put nuclear missiles in Turkey the Russians put missiles in Cuba. Putting NATO further East has brought about the same pushback.
Russia has learned how to use commodities to influence. Not unlike the USA refusal to sell or buy stuff. Locking up the banking system has only created other means to transfer different funds.
