Yes, it's time for another gun buyback! Sponsored by Aurora, Denver and your favorite local football club, the Denver Broncos.

Drive-thru service for your convenience. (Sorry, no ammo accepted)

Sounds like a good deal for everyone!

"Using data from the National Incident Based Reporting System, we find no evidence that GBPs reduce gun crime," the researchers said. "Using data from the National Vital Statistics System, we also find no evidence that GBPs reduce suicides or homicides where a firearm was involved."

If they never owned them in the first place, how is it a "buy-back"?

Who pays for the BGC? I mean, there's likely all manner of felons in these groups...

this piece of the article peaks my curiosity. "However, we’ve heard from the community, especially young people, (that) they want a place to safely and anonymously turn in their guns.” Young people as in teenagers? And they came into possession of these guns that they want to turn in how? Maybe they're just picking them up along the streets at night, idk....but I'd like someone to sit and watch and see just how many "young people" come and turn in any guns.

Was it $50 - $250 per gun?
Ya, OK.

Anonymous allows them to turn in guns "acquired" from parents, parents of friends, mom's BF, dad's GF, etc. with no repercussions. Can't get in trouble with the folks or the local constabulary if you can't track it... Free party money, yo.

well those polymer framed ones will only yield you a crisp $5 bill, so you probably need to sell them to your friends on here instead. ;)

Not very clear/comprehensive article. I found the follow passage attached to a photo interesting:

Chris Silkwood's disabled semi-automatic rifle sits on a workbench in Colorado Springs, Colo., Friday, Jan. 28, 2022. Silkwood donated the firearm to RAWtools, a Colorado Springs-based nonprofit organization that makes guns into garden tools and draws inspiration from the Bible verse, "They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks." (Chris Silkwood via AP)

I dont know who Silkwood is. Maybe they are letting people dismember their own firearms to avoid BGCs?

Not disassembling. Cutting the receiver.

So wish you would have posted a trigger warning before putting up such a gruesome picture. I'm not sure if I'll be able to sleep after seeing that.

No shit.

"They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.

How convenient they left out the other part: “And shall be at the mercy of those that didn't.”

I must have missed it. How much are they paying?

Can I turn some pipe fittings, nails, and a 2x4 into cash?
