Yep, started about 3pm, couldn't make any calls.
Downtown denver through castlerock. I've not tried today.

A router probably decided to set itself on fire somewhere. We were notified, bit that's about it, at work.
I forgot that you're in that realm. Those make sense.

My Verizon was down most of yesterday starting mid day but seems to be back up and running now.
6 hour road trip to see your GF and she would be pissed if you didn't stop every few hours to feed a phone and stand in the cold to talk for a bit. Ugh
And pay-by-the-minute bag phones. Those were great. The weight of a rifle and the battery lasted 15 minutes or so while talking.

Yes, both my phone and my wife's were out yesterday. I contacted Verizon Tech Support (via chat) and they had me turn "airplane mode" off and back on and it seemed to work. It may be that this just happened to occur right as the system was coming back up. This was around 3:30 PM.

It definitely impacted my phone yesterday afternoon. I tried the airplane mode thing and restarting several times to no benefit. Only when I suddenly received about five texts did I know it was working again.

Did they try unplugging it and plugging it back in?
If you still have issues, restart device. When it was supposedly fixed mine was still borked until i reset.

Not to derail this, but the technological leap from the bag phone to a device that fits in your pocket that allows you to film a TV show and has access to all of man's knowledge (and makes calls) in less than 30 years is amazing.

For Public safety there are several options. Motorola Minitor VI

Unication G4

I don't miss those pagers at all. We are paged out through mass text message on our phones. Second call can be a phone call if there is an issue with messaging, either cell or home phones. I don't take my radio home, but a lot of the guys do.
Wife and I both have Verizon phones, had no issues in Parker. Wife mentioned hearing a rumor from a friend about an outage though.
I work in telecom and have dealt with lots of outages, LOTS of them. All kinds of things happen to underground and aerial cables, the numbers are staggering. Some crazy shit. This was likely an equipment issue.
Was working off Alameda and Broadway all day yesterday, zero issues.

There were reports of outages all over the US. I blame Putin

Phase one of an attack to cripple us by shutting down communications and internet?

We also have Verizon because it has the best coverage in rural areas of the state. It would be nice if Verizon would boost signal strength in the Grand Valley and throughout the state. And maybe it should be required for the service providers to post, text and e-mail notification of specific area outages just like Xcel Energy does.

Verizon was down from the west coast , up thru the rocky mountains and other points in the SW 2 days ago. With rolling / sporadic connectivity, due to something going down in SoCal. We were w/out service for 6 hrs. No calls, but text worked. Along with this item.

If that's the case, could have been a fiber cable cut somewhere, pretty common. IIRC, Verizon doesn't own their own cables, they lease fibers from other carriers in ther cables. So when a cut happens, they're dependent on the "landlord" getting the cable fixed asap. And the landlords don't always have their own construction, repair and splicing crews in the area, so contractors have to be rolled out. It can be an easy fix, or it can be a nightmare.

Yep. I was in Los Angeles and tried making calls on my Verizon phone - no luck. A coworker with a Verizon phone had the same issue. Luckily we had access to land lines so we were able to make essential work related calls.
