The state is required to issue your permit (if you pass) within 90 days. Expect a call around day 89.

Boulder held out for a full 90 days on mine. Like they're really causing people to be discouraged [ROFL1]

My permit took 88 days in Jeffco. Most of the more densely populated counties will use as much of the 90 days as they can, more rural counties seem to be a bit quicker. My Utah permit took just 65 days.

I'm in El Paso county. My permit was done in two weeks...(bragging)

Guess it helps that I frequent a range with a cop/friend that is on first name basis with Makata (sp?) lol.

Course, I did have a valid TX one so that might've helped too...

El Paso county Sheriff is always lightning quick with permits. He's a huge 2A supporter.

Terry Maketa is a good Sheriff. El Paso County is the most populated county in Colorado but yet the violent crime rate in the county is below the national average based on the 2008 FBI stats. He does not blame guns for crime, but takes the stance that responsible law abiding citizens have a right to self protection, and in El Paso County that means being stupid with a gun may get you shot and/or arrested. Roger that, which is why I want to get out of debt and start working on my NFA items. Course, it'll be a few years till I'm out of debt, but if the job keeps me around here, good enough for me! lol.

I'll second that in regard to the speed and efficency of the El Paso County CCW issuance turnaround time. Mine was around three weeks if I recall. My renewal was back in under two...
And Maketa seems to be a real stand up guy on the issue - have had a few interactions with him and heard him speak at the PPFC weekly meeting a while back. Good guy.

I'm out in Morgan county and it took 9 business days. Sheriffs office called and left me a message saying that if I would call back and verify mailing address they would mail it or I could stop by and pick it up.

I stopped in to pick it up a few days later and asked about being so fast. They said they had been getting info back from feds/state pretty fast but that was not always the case.

I love living in rural area with low population density. You guys gotta get out of those big cities.

Side note- A local deputy told me recently that he likes the fact that applications for permits are up. They think it will discourage bad guys from coming out to our area.

Edit-From they like to he likes, he did say his personal belief.

Cite the law to them and tell them that next time you're having your RMGO attorney call them instead.

Took me 55 days in Denver about this time last year. Sent me a mail confirmation and a message on my house phone to let me know it was ready.

By law they have to issue in 90 days. Just another group of useless bureaucrats that need to be replaced.

This Denver deal is bs. The applicable law is CRS 18-12-206 (1) "Within ninety days.....a sheriff SHALL..." issue or deny. Not MAY, SHALL. You can print it out from CBI, RMGO, state, wherever. Stop calling, take the printed copy to where they took your money and tell them you want your permit, they are beyond the statutory limits by which they are bound.

When I got my first CCW in virginia they mailed it to me on day 45. There is no picture on them and I had to laminate it myself...[Stooge]

When I got my CO permit I lived in Adams County, I heard they are a lot better than they used to be but the detective that used to run it was a real asshole and I called on day 90 and I was informed that it could be up to another week. I got it on day 94...I was pretty pissed about it but didn't know who to complain to at the time.

Finger print cards for sure. My experience was smooth but they really didnt talk to me only to the retired officers who were getting theirs.
How did it go?
