Ladies and Gentleman, the inaugural Big Ben 2-Gun match is in the books. I'll try to post the sign up here for future matches. These are not monthly matches. They are scheduled for the FIFTH Saturday of the months that have them. So April, July, and October of 2022 will have a match. The match will be at the Ben Lomond Gun Club, Ramah, CO, on the competition berms. Match cost is $25 cash at check in at the range. Sign up for the match will be on Practiscore. Match Director is James Dominico. He will be setting up a mailing list for the matches shortly.
The match is running under a modified Practical Competition Shooting League rule book. We didn't have PCSL targets for the first match, so we slightly modified the course of fire. It wasn't a big deal. We used standard USPSA targets for pistol, and IPSC 'turtle' targets for rifle. PCSL rules allow for reholstering a loaded pistol on the clock. That is not allowed at BLGC, and is a DQ if done at the match. Pre-loading the pistol, and shooting with the rifle, dumping it in a barrel, and then drawing and shooting the pistol IS allowed. You NEED a pistol holster with positive locking, not simply friction retention or competition type holster. I was skeptical about this at first, but it works. If you show up with a Double Alpha/CR Speed/Guga Ruba type holster or non-retention holster, you will NOT be allowed to move with a loaded gun.
This match will test you, physically, mentally, and possibly even emotionally. It a longer than normal day for a match, but it's worth it. Here's what it looks like.
