Super Cold 2022?

I have been struggling for the last few days with maybe the worse cold i had in years.
Not COVID, i actually tested.
No fever or sore throat, but sneezing, congestion (at first I thought it was my seasonal allergies), and coughing my ass off.
Looks like everyone i know has it or just had it.
Very contagious, my poor wife just started her very own...
One would think you would read something about it, but according to the news it's just an Australian/British thing.
Anything going on in your neck of the woods?

My wife got sick 3 weeks ago, lost her voice and hasn't gotten it back yet. She had a super bad cold too. (Also not c19). Chest congestion, low O2, short lived sore throat, minor cough. None of the nasty Rx have helped. Steroids, inhaler, etc. Not very contagious apparently because the other 4 of us didn't catch it.

Littlest hollohas Pre-K class is currently down by half due to strep and covid running through it. None of my three kids were ever insulated during covid so their immune systems aren't weakened like so many other kids. Even when their schools were closed we had them playing with the neighborhood kids everyday and traveling to other states without restrictions. They've not caught anything this school year even when classmates have been out frequently.

My youngest had a cough and a fever for a couple days, wife had a cough, i had the worst aore throat that i have wver remembered for 5 or 6 days. Knew for sure it was strep.. tested negative for that and covid. Talked to other guys at work that had the same sore throat and negative for strep. Something going around. Everyone at work is coughing and sneezing at this point. Just a thing going around. And it seems to effect everyone differently.

Probably because nobody had anything but cov19 in the last 3 years. Nobody has been exposed to the share of germs that us dirt eaters did back in the day.

All I get is sneezing and sinus congestion - and I suspect it's due to "second hand smoke". My wife is a heavy smoker, menthols, just eat up with COPD, surprised she's still alive. She's conscious and accomodating of other people, won't smoke in other people's "spaces" - but me? Her husband? Fuck me. I'm just the "husband". I have no rights.

With everyone on the planet pretty much going above and beyond to avoid any and all colds and viruses for the past two years I imagine catching anything right now is probably going to be rough.

Both of my kids were out of school for a week with fevers and coughs. It kicked my wife's butt for a few days too. No positive C19 tests.

I never caught it thankfully. I'm usually the last to get it after everyone starts feeling great and wanting to go do stuff again.

And yet not a peep from the local news...
I guess nobody makes money from a cold...
