Nickelback is a band lots of people love to hate. Someone explain why, please. I have to admit they are on my playlist and I often crank it up when they come on.

Am I gay?

Generally perceived as a “corporate band” with no sense of self or direction, just a conglomerate shell selling what is popular to make money for the company. Considered to be a “company template” band. With that said I like one of their songs.

There are several claims that lead to the hate:
- Nickelback compose songs according to the genre that is in fashion
- Band members do not have enough talent, and renowned artists have shared this opinion
- They were singled out as the ones responsible for the death of grunge
- They are too commercial and mediocre.

As for your sexual preference you can define it this way.... if you needed a ride once and had to perform fellatio, you aren't gay. If you put yourself in situations where you needed a ride weekly you may very well be.

I?ll openly admit that I enjoy their music. Lowlife is definitely way up the list on my favorite songs.

I tend to just try and enjoy entertainment for what it is and not get too tied up in the politics behind the scene. I can also enjoy movies without getting wound up over the leading actor being a grade A piece of s**t in real life.

I find it funny how people will publicly jump onto a band hate bandwagon, but these bands are incredibly popular for a reason. There are so many closeted listeners apparently. [Coffee]

Journey is another.

I don't care what other people think. I just enjoy music and go about my business.

My 12 year old would agree with you. He heard a Nickelback song on some YouTube gaming channel, and now I hear 'Photograph' six times a day. I had been mostly ambivalent to their works until now. But soul crushing repetition has certainly moved me into the hater camp.

Ha. I?m an idiot. The song Lowlife is by Theory of a Deadman (also Canadian) and not Nickleback.

Some of their stuff is good. I like lots of different music styles from many different artists. I am 66 and my age doesn?t enter into my likes and dislikes. Any of you ever listen to Die Antword? Scuz Twittly? The Monkees? Martina McBride? Three Dog Night? Tommy Roe? Many more.

1973? 3 dog night was the opening act for........................T-Rex / Marc Bolin. To date 3DN is still one of the most amazing concerts we saw. Which would be hard to believe, based on their music. Then again i thought Lenny Kravitz was a mediocre musician, till we saw him open for Aerosmith some 16 yrs ago, in vegas.
Which is interesting as Aerosmith (still unknown) back in 75 was the opening act for Sabbath. 3 song in to sabbaths set, the crowd was still calling for aerosmith.

I don't care what people say.

Rock N Roll is here to stay

WTH is Nickelback? I barely knew of their existence much less any hate or love for them. [Coffee]

The Monkees were derided as a corporate band but I enjoyed their music and the band members did actually rebel against the corporation once they got their act together.

Enjoy what you enjoy. Just don't try to force me to enjoy it by cranking your sound up to the maximum in public. I've had to endure people who have their music cranked up so high that it overrides MY music even 2-3 car lengths away with my windows up. Same goes for sex -- do what you want with (a) consenting adult(s), just close the damn blinds and don't make me listen to it.

Hell, I've always liked Nickleback, never understood the hate. And you wanna talk corporate bands? Ever heard of KISS?

For a really great singer and pleasant on the eyes, check out Helene Fischer. That’s all from me.

LOL

Th reason KISS was popular was because our parents hated them.

I was jamming to Journey on my way to work this morning. Anybody who claims Separate Ways doesn't pump them up is lying. I always feel like I should be driving a Firebird when listening to that song.

I don't know anything about Nickelback.

Speaking of The Monkees, this is one of the funniest parodies I've ever seen. Crazy to think this skit is 30 years old now (1992):
