Yesterday went shooting with the AR. I was running low on my reloads, so I grabbed a couple 30rd mags of factory ammo that I had loaded about 10-12 years ago. I'm not the best shooter, but I can usually get inch and half to two inch groups at 50 yards, my eyes have issues getting much better. All I've shot for years has been my reloads (25gr Varget under 55gr Hornady bullets) and it's been nicely consistent.

So I set up and decide to shoot the factory stuff first. And I couldn't believe it. At 50 yards, I was getting paper plate sized groups, which is insane. I mean, yeah I had a little too much coffee right before, but my shakes have never been that bad. About halfway through William shows up, I show him, and let him knock off a string of 15. Before we check the target he's confident of a solid tight group in the bullseye, but once we check, he's all over the target like I was. I'm thinking the optic is loose/broken, something, but everything is tight. No keyholing or anything else weird.

Finally I pull out my reloads, and it's a 2" group at 50 yards, perfectly normal again. Thankfully it was the factory ammo, anything else would get potentially expensive.

I don't remember exactly who made it, but it was FC 11 brass, with crimped and sealed primers, but just normal 55grain plinker. Only thing I noticed is it was a little hotter than what I usually use, but barely.

Can't say I've ever seen anything else like it. I think I have one more 30rd mag of the stuff.

Getting ready to run a batch of .223. Thanks for the recipe. [Beer]

I'm guessing loaded with ARMSCORE bullets.

I’ve seen green tip shoot 3-4” groups at 100 out of a rifle capable of 3/4”. Dinner plate groups at 50 are amazing. I’d save those last 30 rounds and use them to screw with someone.

Hahahah yeah... it's weird because I have a batch of bullets I got right when all the shutdowns started. Just as bad as this factory stuff, except with keyholing and everything. Even at 25 yards about 1 out of 5 bullets are jacked up. I'm still pulling them when I get time since I made about 700+ of them one fine day with nothing else to do.

I figure I was going to offer them up for free to anyone who wanted to see what they can do with them.

Now you got me wondering if I got a batch of those too. Sounds about right for a batch I put together that keyholed and did crazy stuff. I know I've shot a bunch of them but I know somewhere there are more....

OP:
The specs on your rifle?
And no idea/guess about where or who made the "Factory" ammo?

It's a DDM4. I guess you'd call it a V0 because it's an original before there was even a V1. Now, I've shot a lot of rounds through it, probably 20k or so by now? But the barrel still looks great when I checked it last.

I don't remember who made it anymore, but I typically buy PMC, Fiocchi, Federal, or other ammo like that ammo over the years. Normal plinker stuff. Occasionally Wolf gold in brass, but that probably would have been after I put those mags away loaded.

12 years old?

Maybe the powder turned sour. Didn't you check the expiration date?

Or at least smell it like the bulging ranch dressing container you find in the back of the fridge.

Well it's factory ammo that I put into 30 round mags like 12 years ago. It's got primer sealant on it and everything. it's just weird, I dunno. It's one thing that it goes from like 2MOA to 4, but 40?

Do you have any left?
Pull a bullet, check the powder?
You said FC 11 on the head stamp?
