Why wouldn't they? They've already accomplished what they wanted to accomplish. They got people (those willing to eat up the feces that MSM vomits out) doubting and thinking ill of Boebert just by making the claim.

If they said "Whatever you do, DO NOT think about a pink elephant. Pink elephants are bad, do not think about those pink elephants". Well, people can't help but think about a pink elephant. This is a tactic often used as a weapon against opponents - most often by the left, but not always. They like to make claims, often in the form a formal charges against someone like "Candidate John Smith sexually abused multiple children". Even if/when all accusations are determined to be unfounded and charges are dismissed the best you'll hear is "We didn't have enough evidence to convict" or "His legal team used sneaky legal loopholes to get him off". In the minds of the electorate John Smith will always be viewed as a pedophile.
