Can you dry fire a AR15? or do i have to buy a dummie round to put in and dry fire? it it safe for the fire pin.

100% true. you wont hurt it. dry fire practice is key to getting "good"!

+1. You'll damage the receiver where the hammer hits it if the upper is not in place unless you have a special gunsmith's block for the hammer to fall on. Also, you can get a dry-fire adapter that allows you to only pull the bolt carrier back about an inch or so to cock the hammer. Works well if you dry fire a lot, like high power shooters.
