"Essentially, the Bruen decision (https://kdvr.com/news/politics/ap-politics/supreme-court-strikes-new-york-gun-law-in-major-ruling/) gave us a four-ton wrecking ball and we're ready to come through..."
Good for them. I know a lot of guys on here have ill will towards RMGO but at least they are trying.
They actually are doing something other than screaming and asking for money?
Surprised me
This might cause me to donate again.
Good they are going after the smallest fish. Superior doesn’t have as many resources to fight it.
Good strategy!

Personally I think they are going at it too soon. They should have waited until somebody was snagged up by it, then they would have standing and I believe a better case.
I am wary of RMGO. Now they can say "Hey we are trying to do something but we need your help".
I wish them luck but I've already received a couple emails and a text message asking for $$.
When the Independance Institute sued Boulder the first time around in the Federal court system as RMGO is trying to do the case was rejected with them saying this was a state issue. Will see what happens.

I believe one of the recent USSC decisions fixed the limited definitions of "standing" to include complaintants that "could be" affected by a law, IIRC...

I sure hope so too. I just received this email from the town:
___
Details & Deadlines for Ordinance Regarding Weapons Use and Possession
The Town Board recently passed an ordinance regarding the possession and use of weapons in the Town that will go into effect July 10, 2022. Residents will have until July 30, 2022, to comply with the new regulations regarding illegal weapons.
Illegal Weapons Information
As of July 30, 2022, in the Town of Superior, a person may not possess an illegal weapon as defined under Sec. 10-9-20. Per the ordinance, an illegal weapon means an assault weapon, large-capacity magazine, rapid-fire trigger activator, blackjack, gas gun, metallic knuckles, gravity knife, or switchblade knife.
Per the ordinance, a large-capacity magazine means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than ten (10) rounds but shall not be construed to include any of the following: a feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than ten (10) rounds; a twenty-two (22) caliber tube rim-fire ammunition feeding device; or a tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.
The items listed above should be removed from the Town by July 30, 2022, unless an exemption applies to you in the ordinance. You may dispose of them at the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office (5600 Flatiron Pkwy, Boulder, CO 80301).
Assault weapons Information
Any person who, prior to July 1, 2022, was legally in possession of an assault weapon shall have until December 31, 2022, to obtain a certificate for the assault weapon.
1. Bring a valid ID and background authorization form to Town Hall between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
2. The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office will send you a link to sign up for the weapons inspection after review of a background check.
3. At your appointment date and time, bring your assault weapon to the Sheriff’s Office Substation located at 405 Center Dr. Suite F in Superior.
Secure your unloaded firearm(s) in your locked vehicle. DO NOT BRING YOUR FIREARM INTO THE BUILDING.
4. Once an armorer has inspected your assault weapon(s) from the Sheriff’s Office you will receive two (2) certificates for each assault weapon.
It is your responsibility to maintain the certificate(s) as the Sheriff’s Office will not maintain any record of the weapons.

Yeah. It's ok, Boulder PD is really good at keeping us safe. As in, we have nearly no crime but they spend a lot of time here targeting residents for 40 in a 35 and the like. I have a big FU to them too. I gotta move outta here.

[emoji1787] I hope they aren't planning on scheduling extra deputies to be available in the event of mass compliance in the next 2 weeks.

I found that amusing (and nauseating) too. It shows how little they know about firearms. Yeah, "dispose" of a $1g or 12.
Should be pretty easy to clone a certificate
It is your responsibility to maintain the certificate(s) as the Sheriff’s Office will not maintain any record of the weapons.
<<< just shakes his head in disbelief.
Dumbo texted me asking to support RMGO on this issue today.

What is a gravity knife?
The definition may have changed since I was into knives 20+ years ago, but butterfly knives used to be classified as "gravity knives".
What the fuck is a gravity knife?
It has a thingy that flips up..

What is a gravity knife?
For us it was like a stiletto. Only wrist activated, not by a spring. Think of one of those quick open ken onion folders, only straight out the end.

What is a gravity knife?
WW2 German paratrooper knife.
Good news is federal judge issues restraining order.

Holy crap! You mean a restraining order was issued that didn't favor progressives? I thought they were the only ones who got such judicial support.

Very surprised. Pleasantly so.
Goes to show that there isn't a leftist hiding in every robe.
We cannot celebrate too much yet..
But the judge (paraphrasing) said the plaintiffs are likely to succeed with the magazine limit being a unconstitutional and that MSR bans are unconstitutional because of the recent SCOTUS ruling and “in common use”. Read one of the judges (or maybe plaintiffs lawyers) said selling more AR15 than F150s, which is the best selling vehicle in the USA, is the epitome of in common use.
Now if strategy is good, this could (in a while) overturn the Colorado mag ban.
But this was clever. Let a small town thinking they big britches take the brunt of the legal action. They have less money and resources to fight it.
The state has more money to fight it.
But a favorable ruling here means maybe the injunction can be widened?
Also the injunction is only temporary until Aug 4th when the judge will hear arguments to keep the injunction in place or remove it.
But this was an Obama appointed judge. So my gut tells me the injunction will remain.
Once there is an injunction maybe other entities (Boulder Louisville Lafayette Longmont State of Colorado) will be sued and restraining order about mags installed.

https://pagetwo.completecolorado.com/2022/07/27/caldara-restricting-concealed-carry-only-invites-mass-shootings/
Jon Caldara talking about the new laws. Nothing new except one thing at the end.
"Nine percent of Colorado adults have concealed weapon permits, and they should be allowed to live their lifestyle, which has the added benefit of stopping mass killers.
Just a complete aside, a recent Gallup poll finds 7% of Americans identify as LGBT. I?m grateful we have legal protections for them. But in places like Boulder, the gun owner lifestyle is too perverse to protect."
Passing laws and ordinances that specifically target minorities? I think that's illegal.
