View Full Version : Post a picture of what your daily 'loadout' is (aka the crap you carry every day)
If you're like me you weigh about 25lbs more in street clothes than you do in gym clothes and there's probably a reason for that aside from the huge boots. These threads are fun to see what everyone else carries around on a daily basis. So post up a single picture of everything on your person other than clothes when you walk out the door each day and then a description of the items in case there's something someone else is interested in and wants a little more info on. I'll start:

So, there's mine. Let's see what everyone can't leave home without.

Why do you carry an extra battery for your phone instead of just plugging it in every night or getting a car charger?
Also, does the pocket holster for the Ruger adequately cover the trigger?
Why do you carry an extra battery for your phone instead of just plugging it in every night or getting a car charger?
I carry an extra battery because I use my phones a LOT and it's dead by lunch if I'm not near a power source. I have wall chargers, car chargers and what not but it's easier to throw the phone on the dock at night and the battery on the spare battery charger and the next morning I can run with two fully charged batteries. I plug the phone in when it's convenient but if not I don't have to be worrying about a dead phone if I'm not near a power source.

Sure does. Goes in a back pocket and prints just like a wallet.
That makes sense about the phone. I figured if you bought a Droid, you probably do a lot of work on the phone.
I'd take a picture of my stuff, but it's just wallet, car keys, and Dare cell phone.

this actually sounds fun... I'll play.
Pretty simple really.
5 Keys - not pictured. Only what I need, so if lost, some bad guy doesn't have much.
Two cell phones (theirs and mine)
8 gig thumb drive
wallet
One primary ID, two suplimental depending on where or what I'm doing...
comb
leatherman
pen and usually some sort of computer part. (I like carrying a computer power cord as protection, can do many things with that and nobody is the wiser...)
Ruger LCR is for when I'm not "at work" since I can't carry there. [Rant1] But I have to rely on instincts and knowing my surroundings more than anything.

blackberry (wish I did not have to have)
carmex (work outside, great on lips and split finger tips)
wallet (c. cards, i.d's and permits)
a couple of bucks ( you never know)
assorted key's (for the most part just extra weight)
and of course... I never leave home with out my dillo ;)

I carry 32rds in two different handguns so I'm pretty set for most situations or at least have enough ammo to get me away from most every situation.

(RUN!) or rely on my ninja skills... [ROFL1]
I don't really have an excuse. I have extra rounds on speed strips, I just don't normally carry them. They are usually in the fanny pack holster which is in the car most of the time.
Typically I'm an over preparing type of person for things, but this just hasn't been one of my concerns for some reason. If after 5 shots things haven't changed in my favor, reloading might be a problem anyway...
I need to get some IWB holsters for my Sig 228 and then I can start carrying more rounds... but it's so much larger than the LCR.
[Pepsi]
I keep an extra mag in my car. Otherwise, I just don't really have a mag holder and don't want it in my pocket. A while ago, I realized that the butt plate on my mags was large enough that I could just tuck them directly into my belt and they'll stay put for 99% of the situations I'd end up in, but that doesn't conceal well.
Ok I'll play

yes. I tried IWB holsters, and I just don't care for them. In the summer, I down scale when it's too hot for the second layer or just embrace the suck.
The nice thing about OWB is that if you can open carry in most places anyway. Glad our state doesn't have any stupid "printing" laws.

This includes the contents of my 5-11 jacket, which is why you don't see a holster or mag pouch...I am NOT taking those out and then having to put them back in! Also, no cell phone as I used it to take the picture.
Wallet- SpecOps T.H.E. (And it does, dang near!)
Dressing, First Aid, 4x6 or so - Cause you never need it till you really need it.
SOG Pentagon Elite w/ 550 lanyard.
SureFire E1e (usually have a spare battery with it, just used it and need to replace it)
Issue Camillus utility pocket knife (this one has been cryo treated in liquid nitrogen, seems to have helped)
Gerber EZ out DPSF
Firing pin from a MAS 49. Awesome multi tool, believe it or not. Harder than woodpecker lips!
SIG P225 mag w/ Winchester SXT 147gr 9mm
SIG P225 with another mag of the same thing, plus one in the pipe.
Small swiss army knife on keychain, w/ small pr of scissors.
I also have a length of 550 cord in the 2nd pocket of the mag pouch in my jacket, but once again I'm not taking it out 'cause I don't want to put it back!
(The Sig doesn't go to work with me, but it does go elsewhere. Can't take it to work, the folks at the gate would get all excited if they ever got around to searching me)

After losing it under my bed for 3 months immediately after receiving it, I have mine on my keyring too.

Bottom row (row 5), Left to right: 7” Survival knife and sheath (in case those pesky trees get in the way), Tac Lite.
Row 4 L to R: Crackberry (love/hate relationship), Wallet, Bic lighter (aka, bottle opener/dilla) and matches (I call them little pieces of god), Lip balm (can never have enough of that), “Smith and Wesson” pocket knife, Ear plugs (With all these rounds going off, I might need 2-pair), Mallard 200 meter chronograph watch (in case I get thrown into the ocean here in the desert), Ought-five Elgin pocket watch (cause one can never live w/o a mechanical watch).
Row 3 L to R: Two 7.62-30rnd mags, One AK-74 underfolder (backup gun), One Walther PPK/S with x-tra mag, Three 8 rnd 1911 mags.
Row 2 L to R: Backup 1911 (gotta have a backup to the backup), Six 8-rounds 1911 mags, 1911 (the primary carry)
Row 1 l to R: 38 snubbie w/ two speed loaders, One cat (never know when you are going to need one of those, they do come in handy), And since the guano that just hit the fan will mostly be mine…a clean pair of underwear.
Total round count is around 212. Ouch. I need to go to the gym.

Actually with the duster (NOT trench coat) on, you can’t see the AK. Sometimes the mag makes people think that I’m “happy to see them”. I do get some strange looks when I open carry the cat though.
But for real, this is what I usually carry. I often have a $100 bill to give up if someone might get real weird around me. “Hey, sorry man. Will 100 bucks make you have a better day?” I rather give up a bill than shoot anybody. I know it’s not a guarantee to get them out of my face, but it might be worth a try.
Blackberry, wallet, Bianchi IWB holster. Fire, lip balm, pocket knife, and Walther PPK/S with spare mag.
P.S. I guess I STILL need to figure out this picture thing.

Lol.
Bum: "Yo man, got any spare change?"
RL45: "No change, but how about $100?" *as RL flips back the trench coat, umm, "duster" and "accidently" flashes the AK*
Bum: ....."uhh..." ....
Talk about getting a weird look. I wonder if someone would actually take it or refuse.
Ever time a bum asks me for some "spare change" and I give it to them (good Christian boy that I am) they always up the ante and I have to get downright rude with them. Nowadays, I don't even respond and keep on walking... kind of sad.
I do that $100 trick as well, but mine is a little different. If someone gets in my face, I say, "Hey man, would $100 make you feel better?" Then if they say yes, I reply, "Then get a job you bum. Get the hell away from me before I turn your face into my new glove."

What makes a problem for the beta mags? Sand there is like dust to fine grain sand, lots of it, piles and piles in every crack and crevace of everything. Wind blow almost every day all day. You can't stop the sand and dust from getting into everything. Real tough on the gear, especially mags. An example, some of the team showed up with a little oil in their pistol mags. I had to force the follower out of a couple they were so gummed up after only one mission. You have to dump a Beta because it malfunctions, that's a lot of lost ammo. P-mags just run no matter what.

he said do what you want...he doesn't care. He just wants the lawsuit dropped and to make a fool of dick Swan at shotshow...which he will when he rolls up with probably close to a pickup truck bed worth of intentionally broken ARMS mounts/rails etc.
Order the LaRue. Why give Dick Swan more money? He's the only manufacturer on my blacklist. As systems come online.. there will never be a A.R.M.S. product on my site.
Mark does not honestly want you mailing money to dick and have to replace those with products off his line.
Just this year Dick Swan has:
Sued Magpul (back up iron sites) winning over a million
Sued Troy Industries (I forgot what) winning over a million
Sued LaRue (over the trademarked number #17)
"Dick" thinks the best way to counter falling profits is to hire lawyers and sue other industry leaders to make money, not hire customer service reps.
And then don't forget, he told a grieving widow with three kids (one of whom has down syndrom) to take her memorial down located somewhere on his obscure property in the woods (sent by papered legal notice mind you), after her husband had just committed suicide days earlier, and then told the media that IT WAS THE WIDOWS FAULT HER HUSBAND KILLED HIMSELF (which no, it was not, dick is just a DICK)
Fuck Dick Swan. Don't send him a dime just so LaRue pays out of pocket. I'll do what I can to make sure he is out of business in five years or less.
Totally agree, all my ARMS stuff has been broken and sent it, or sold. i won't buy another ARMS thing again.
he also threatened to sue a dealer on ar15.com for another name...it was either stop selling the product or get sued, the guy is small business so he had to stop selling...
Dick also gave $1000 to a anti-gun candidate in MA.
Dick also has a very large collection on Nazi memorabilia, products, etc and is said to be a Nazi supporter...there is more about that on ar15.com as well.
sorry for getting off topic! just important stuff we do what we can to give ARMS/Dick Swan a big middle finger
ETA: Also, it would help if everyone sent emails to Eotech and Stag Arms (I am sure there are others), but basically anyone affiliated with ARMS and let them know their sales will decline and you won't buy their products if they continue business with Dick Swan/ARMS.

How do you guys carry all that shit without wearing painter's overalls all the time?
Well if you say me walking down the street you would have no idea I had all that on me. If you look like a person packing two guns then it defeats the point of concealed carry.
Well I realize that. I'm just thinking about how sometimes I take my wallet out of my back pocket because it is uncomfortable to sit on. I'm just one of those people who don't like too much stuff in his pockets.

I always have on a loose shirt or a jacket, never a vest. I always carry the same stuff in the same place every single day, and night.
1: Glock 19, old school from 1992 but it never fails.
2: Blackhawk “Check 6” holster, nothing feels like Italian leather.
3: 2 Glock 17 magazines, with 34 round here and 16 in the gun I hope that 50 rounds will do the job.
4: Gould & Godrich double magazine holder, no play and just enough grip.
5: Blackhawk instructors belt, you can’t beat a lifetime guarantee on a belt.
6: Emerson SOCFK-B, the fastest and finest knife ever made.
7: Gerber money-clip knife, just a handy little sucker.
8: Phone, I would leave it at home if I could get away with it.
9: Leather wallet, never has any money in it for long.
10: 8 Quarters, no they are not for phone calls.
11: Zippo, no not for smoking.
12: Pen, Zebra is good and cheap if you leave it.
That is my daily dozen!

*rolls eyes* My point, specifically, is now everyone on the forum knows what you look like and what firearm you're carrying. That's why it's called 'concealed' carry. Maybe I am being a little paranoid though [Roll1] I just know I wouldn't advertise my CCW to everybody.

Here is my EDC load out. Minus my carry because I am moving in a new direction and sold my brother my Walther PPK. (I'm going XDM compact I think)
The XDM compacts, while nice, are still rather heavy compared to the glocks. I fondled a friends the other day and was surprised by the weight. They are about 27oz unloaded, which isn't bad but I could see it getting a little bothersome for daily carry. Despite the weight, they are nice guns. Triggers are way better than regular XD's, grip is nice and sticky and not slippery like some polymer guns.

I personally can't stand Glocks. I'm not saying they aren't a good weappon, i just don't like them. Everyone I have ever shot, (compact, full size, long slide, .40, .45, 9mm, .357 sig, 10mm) I have not liked one bit. I'm personally just now even accepting polymer framed handguns. And I have to say it is the XD, and more particularly the XDM that changed my mind. I just picked up the XDM 9mm in the 4.5in barrel. Shooting it for the first time this Sunday (today I see now). I have shot my friends 3.8 multiple times and love it. So after this weekend we will see if I am a polymer convert.

Frankly, I don't give a flying f**k what you carry (no offense). I just know we have LEO's that frequent the forum. What if you get stopped by one of our fine Law Enforcement friends? Unless they're one of the very few cool ones, the fact that they know you're armed is just going to serve to escalate the situation. I know I wouldn't advertise to the police I had a gun on me, legal or not. Okay, I'm off my soap box. [Beer]

I feel the same way. I hate polymer guns, but practically speaking they are really, really hard to beat. Glocks especially....the weight and size options alone make it a done deal...even though I hate the way it grips. The XDM will serve you well though, they are pretty solid little guns.

I work with police, detectives mostly doing off duty work. None of them look at a legally armed citizen as a threat. In a situation last year a friend and myself were confronted by a mouthpiece in a KFC that thought we "were looking at him funny". After multiple attempts from my friend and myslef to diffuse the situation the guy just wouldn't stop. The people behind the counter had called the police and when they got there they asked him for his ID and he threw a fit that they didn't ask us. Needless to say he did right afterward and we both handed over CCW and CO ID. they asked if we were carrying and we said yes. they then called all four names in and handed us back our IDs and told us to have a good night. I have no idea what happened with the other guy. I'm sure they just wanted us to leave at different times.
Either way I don't fear the cops knowing me, or that I carry. And that little CCW shows them right off the bat that you aren't a felon. To me that is a good thing.

No, it makes perfect sense. Just wondering. I've considered wearing a cell/leatherman pouch on my belt and putting my mag in it. However, where I work, I KNOW that I'd be asked to show either a cell (coworkers) or leatherman (management) at some point. So it goes in the pocket for me.

Thats a great way to carry extra ammo. However, the fit can be a bit snug with double stacks though.
I'll play the troll here... In most every EDC thread I have seen on various forums they all raise some BS flags to me. Guns have no holster wear, leather holsters that havent even been broken in, Crossbreed type holsters with no salt stains, kydex without a scratch on it, belts that have no "buckle crease", knives that are clean with perfect unmarred (most appear to have never even been re-sharpened)blades, handles of knives not packed full of lint and other pocket junk, etc.

Most peoples daily carry photos are from a distance back... thus removing the nicks, scuffs etc.
Its also possible that they are like me and clean, Redye Holsters and Weapons

Rust on an M&P? How without complete neglect?
The original poster of that picture already posted the link for the thread covering his rust issue, but in case you didn't see it, I will post it again.
http://www.co-ar15.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24296&highlight=rusted
stainLESS finishes are not impervious to rust, and any number of different things can cause a persons firearm to rust like that, including defect from the factory.
Rust on an M&P? How without complete neglect?
Oh I'm sorry. Was that a little too used for you? I'll try more for the middle next time.

I am still trying to figure out how this guy thinks our EDC should be worn out and damaged because we carry it everyday.
The previous photo of my CBH was the day before maintenance.

Apparently we are supposed to treat our stuff like shit and use them in ways not they are not supposed to be used. I guess I can go see how my guns work as hammers, and knifes work as pry bars. Just can't help but to take care of my things, my bad.
Maybe I should have said that I don't put loose change or anything that can scratch or mar things up in the same pockets as those things that I like to keep looking new. I clean out my holster and pockets also whenever I get anything abrasive in them like sand so my crap doesn't get scratched. The leatherman is only a week old, but still, it will look like that in a year if I can help it. I use my stuff regularly, however I use it carefully as a personal choice. I assume the comment about the daily carry stuff that looks like it is in great condition was directed at people like myself who take great care of their items. Some people just go that extra mile when taking care of their things. I have an HK91 that that has 3 visible scratches on it. Some would call it a safe queen if they saw it, however I have put two barrels on the damn thing already (easily my most used rifle).

I got this holster in a trade, and wore it pretty much everyday for a year and a half or so, and who knows how much the previous owner wore it. It doesn't look beat to hell, or even well used, but I take care of the stuff that I may have to stake my life on someday. Hell I have a cheap mini bic that I carry everyday (not as smoker tho), and it gets a looking over and a function test daily.

Why a single action? Cause I had to sell my 1911 and I'm just as fast cocking the hammer on it as I am disengaging the thumb safety on my 1911, I'm faster getting a sight picture with it than any gun I currently own, and its definitely the most reliable gun I own.

Call me skeptical. At least with a 1911, you don't have to click off the thumb safety before every shot. Also, are you pulling the hammer back with strong hand or weak hand? More power to you though. Make sure it doesn't fall out of your pocket. ;)

Yeah, its definitely not the most convenient thing to have to cock the hammer every shot, but its not enough of a hinderance for me to ban it from carry duty. Weak hand if I can use two hands, but if I don't have time for that (jumped from behind, charged by a bear, whatever) I can cock the hammer with my strong hand as I'm drawing without slowing my draw.
Don't get me wrong, I much prefer a 1911 for carry, but this is my best alternative with my current choices... mostly cause I don't trust the others to do what I need them to, whenever I need them too.

If you're like me you weigh about 25lbs more in street clothes than you do in gym clothes and there's probably a reason for that aside from the huge boots. These threads are fun to see what everyone else carries around on a daily basis. It was brought to my attention that this thread was nearly a decade and since I was the one who kicked it off I thought it only fitting that I attempt to recreate the original pic. Since we still live in the same house I was able to locate the same substrate although I didn't make much effort to get the exact same spot on said substrate or painstaking effort to get all of the items back in the exact same spot. I did notice that I carry a lot less BS now and two items have remained the the same: my wedding ring and Blistex. I also discovered that in 10 years it's now very difficult to take a picture of your smart phone. I have a Big Skinny like that in leather. For as thin as it is, it holds a lot of cards and isn't showing any signs of breaking down. If it ever does wear out, I'll likely buy another.
I love this thing. I don't remember under what circumstances I handed someone my entire wallet (think it must have been my wife) but when they handed it back they had it folded up all small like a quad-fold.
Quad-fold. That's hillarious. [Coffee]
I don't think mine has enough flex to do that.
Blistex and wedding ring didn't change. Looks like you lightened the load a bit, Jer.
Apparently times were tougher ten years ago because now I only need to carry one gun. ROFL
Ok, here's my more serious response. Generally a 1911 of some kind (during warmer months a smaller one like this SA RO Elite Compact), extra mag, Benchmade knife, paracord and cell. Didn't feel I needed to add my wallet or keys since we all tend to have those on us. Flashlight, some type of Surefire, is in my truck or in the bike's side bags.

Very nice setup!

Indeed! Forgot to mention belt by The Beltman, have two of them and they’re excellent.
So let's talk about wear and tear. Saw someone mention a knife clip wearing out a seat in another thread. Let's see some pictures of your carry side driver seat. That flashlight in my photos has started/already worn holes in my relatively new pants. How are people's belts holding up?
Minimal.
I had my vehicles for over 5 years, and the leather looks fine where my knife clip usually is at.
One big factor I got to address is that i tuck my shirt out.

I am planning to do a light load and normal load setup.
Seems to be that olight have a flashlight which are about size of a thumb.
Planning to make smaller adjustments on:
1. OC
2. Flashlight
3. 1 Mag pouch or no mag pouch.
4. 1 knife

Reminds me of a word sissy pad I learned.
One Korean war vet was talking about a "sissy pad." I asked him what sissy pad was, and he was talking about rubber butt stock shock absorber.
I don't notice any additional wear and tear from my knife clip or anything else. Once in a while my flashlight turns on and gets my pocket a little warmer than I'd like though.
Dang ol flashlight ruins all my pants.

I wont take a pic, but at work; it comes down to a knife, lighter, and a G26 on my ankle.
The rest is 20 yards away in my truck.
My philosophy is avoid crowds, and everything must be a means to get to a rifle. If in "crowd", have rifle.
My $.02
Just sold the P30s ~5 days ago and glock17 ~ 20 days ago.
Currently only doing glock 43 for iwb carry.
Owb, carry my next smallest firearm I own is shadow 2.
I need a firearm which has 3 to 4.0" barrel size.
Thinking about
Glock 19
P320 x carry compact
One of those cz compact non poly.
My G43 has taken over as my most common carry load.
In the heat of Las Vegas, it’s smaller size is noticeable vs my G19 in the same aiwb carry.

Usually on me is a Walther PPK with an extra mag and sometimes a flip knife the NRA gave me years ago. Working in an office that doesn't let anyone carry even a knife inside limits my daily carry on work days.
I do keep 2 extra mags, a K-Bar, flashlight, matches, chem lights, rations and extra gear for various weather in my truck.
