My TABOR check arrived today. It came complete with a bullshit letter from Governor Jerkwad sounding like he's responsible for doing this:

LOL, just deposited it in savings. I'll keep the letter handy on my next camping trip to use as wiping material, perhaps I should bring both!

When Polis was questioned about the reaaon for the checks and wasn't it just an early TAVOR refund, Polis said it depends on what type of accounting method was used or something similar. The people that don't understand that answer, don'tc want the truth.

Emailed the state 2-3 months ago about the fact I'm out of state and where and how I'm getting my fucking check. That it doesn't direct deposit to last account used is horseshit but they want to do this faggot letter. Now I'm debating if I write a letter to the folk thjat got my home a month ago saying I know this check is coming...

Polis is running for re-election this year.
Depending on which way the political winds blow, he will be running for President in '28 or '32. This looks great on his resume to people that are not aware of TABOR.

Mine went to partially pay last year's tax bill. The joy of being self employed.
I think payroll tax withholdings should be eliminated. Everyone would have to pay quarterly, semi-annually or annually.
This would go a long way to curtailing government spending, as people actually see how much of their earned income is being requisitioned.
There would be a huge uproar and likely much more scrutiny over where one's money is going.

Does this need to be reported as income on the federal taxes? Is it an income tax refund that is reported to increase your federal rates if you itemized deductions?

No. Rebates are not considered income. If they were you would get a 1099.
I will convert my check to some much needed emergency cash stash...the check arrived today.
Our $1500 came today along with the Polis campaign letter. What a fraud! It will go for part of our quarterly tax payment.
I love getting my money back. I hate when people who paid nothing get money "back".

I was very surprised that I got my check. I figured with them not doing direct deposit, the new owners of my house in colorado would have already spent my check. It actually managed to get forwarded to my new address!

This generous gift from Polis is going to change my family?s life. A windfall like this is like winning the lottery as I?ve never seen such a large amount of money all at once. I?m so grateful that he has chosen to be generous out of the kindness of his heart that I?ll be the first in line to vote for him.
Oh, and what is this TABOR thing I heard my coworkers talking about around the water cooler? I was so elated about the free government money and the generosity of our government that I wasn?t paying attention.

This morning I read that King Soopers and WalMart were not cashing the TABOR cheques.
A bit further in the article it mentions this was in Trinidad.
Lady was complaining that the state shouldn't give out cheques that can't be cashed by people without bank accounts.
This morning our Governor Palpatine was saying that the state coffers are loaded with funds, so I wonder why some places won't cash these cheques?

Or maybe people without a bank account shouldn't be getting a TABOR rebate since they very likely paid little to no taxes and already got a "subsidized" Tax Refund Check via all the credits/programs/etc. they claimed if when they filed their taxes. And how did they cash that?

My daughter went to King Soopers and they said that they couldn’t cash it because she never cashed a check there previously.
I took her to a wells fargo and they cashed it without any qualifiers.
I have not received mine yet.

Sad story, a friend and his wife received a COVID incentive payment as a credit card (remember this?)
They didn't pay attention to the included letter and cut up the card.
Come tax time they still had to pay back that "advance" to the US Gov't.

I always pay less taxes than I?m supposed to throughout the year so when tax time rolls around I pay them the rest of what I owe them. While spending it on a firearm sounds like fun I?ll just use mine to pay my taxes next April.

Love how on top of trying to email them months and months ago about updating my address, neither can I check on the status that I know of, so dont know if my house buyers are lying about not seeing it yet.
Some of you folks are giving the gov and the usps way to much credit in thinking this is a coordinated, thought out delivery plan.
Just process the feeble return of your own money to you how you see fit and move on.
When mine comes, I see it like a reunion. It's something I valued that I haven't seen for some time, that has returned to me.

They know they aren't going to change conservative minds with this, but they solidify their base and even bring in stragglers with "free money". Too many people dont get it (the manipulation, not the money).
They have to keep the checks flowing (at least perceptionally) across the whole spectrum to keep the sheep pacified.

Does TABOR say refunds to residents or tax payers? I believe it says residents.
Could just substitute the word resident for voter I suppose.

Call Taxpayer Service at the Colorado Dept. of Revenue and ask if you get a credit on your tax return when you file for 2022.
