If you have Progressive Insurance I hope you cancel your policy.
Progressive advertises on http://forums.islamicawakening.com (http://forums.islamicawakening.com)
This is a pretty great site if you hate America.
I don't think it is a big deal. I'd rather have insured American hating terrorists driving around than uninsured ones.

This would be one of the dumber things to get upset about.

The assumption is that Progressive went out of their way to purchase advertising on the Islamic Awakening Forums page ... the ads are put there by Google.
The Islamic Awakening guys made a deal with Google to allow advertising on their site, Progressive bought the ad space from Google and it shows up on thousands of pages running Google advertising.
They have no idea where.
Exactly, I doubt Progressive actively went out of their way to advertise there. Just the result of an automated process plugging in ads. And is this site a big deal? I only ask because its opening page doesn't seem to be anti-american but rather islamic. Now I didn't go reading the forums and I don't plan to since I have zero interest in islam.

Nothing irritates me more than having explosives stuffed in my skivvies that don't blow up as advertised. A guy needs insurance.
Though, now that I think about it, that's more of warranty issue.
I just contacted Toyota Marketing. I have a New slogan for them to sell more vehicles.
I got the idea watching all those night vision target eliminations.
Toyota,,, the choice of terrorists Worldwide.

If I can get the vids/photos from my kid when he gets back from Iraq in a few months I'll show you some of the good stuff you don't get to see on TV. He gets to watch it all on his laptop as he calls in the airstrikes. Some of it gets approved so he can keep it. Freakin' awesome.
Like the up close aftermath of an A-10 gun-run on 12 unfortunate Jihadists that thought they could hide in the dark...behind a rock...after ambushing a Ranger patrol...a patrol where all the Rangers dressed up like Afghan soldiers (sneaky sons a bitches!)...driving old, beat up Afghan Toyota trucks...with my kid riding shotgun and on the air with 4 A-10 pilots what really wanted to do some killin' just waitin' for the word to swoop.
Here's a hint: If you're going to hide behind a rock to protect yourself from an A-10 strafing attack, you need a really big rock. No...I mean a REALLY big rock.
You're gonna need more than a good policy from Progressive, too, to protect your dumbass from that sort of thing.
Complaining about companies that advertise on certain sights, or say Happy Jihad Day in their mailers, while simultaneously posting on a gun board is ironic to me. The Toyota example is great. Tons of terrorists use Toyotas, but even more of them use AK-47's. Doesn't seem to stop anyone on here from owning and AK.
We had a kid over there too, now back here guarding the border. He used to send us some awesome night vids from him and then some of his buds. Like you said some he couldn't.
remember one where thes 3 insurgents were trying to plant a roadside device, whack one goes down, like the smart peeps they are the other runs over to the fallen one, whack he goes down, then the 3rd jumps in the Toyota, and WHHHOOOOSh Bye Bye.
Hey I am trying to get Yota more sales. and it does work for the AK...
And for the record when they are born they get an AK...LOL
I have no idea how internet ads work, but I sure would not want my company advertising on a site that supports the 9-11 attacks and future attacks on my country and I just wont support those people that do.
Maybe the internet does not work like normal ads, you pay someone to carry your ad is my impression of how advertising works.
Getting upset over this, nope. Just thought others here might want to know.
Edit: I did email Progressive asking why they would advertise on a site like this. Im not boycotting, just sharing info with others. Maybe others might show a little support for all that were murdered by the actions that site supports and email progressive also.

Three of the last four times I was over there, I was privy to a lot of the targeting pod and predator footage from when we dropped on various items of interest. There is absolutely nothing like watching a few of those slimeballs hiding behind some wall or ducking into a building, only to have them and whatever they're in or behind suddenly disappear in a huge flash. That's what I call EXTREME PREJUDICE! One of these involved a three story building....before the ordnance impact reduced it to about a half story. Three, boom, dust, half. Simple and easy.
My other favorite is watching footage from AC-130's. There is just something about an airborne 105 howitzer or 40mm Bofors with precision guidance that impresses the hell out of me. Damn things are just airborne battleships!
How Google ads work:
Advertiser creates an add and says we'll pay x amount to display this ad on pages about term Y (insurance, death benefit, survivor benefit, etc.). Google indexes the whole internet, finds pages with a high perceived relevancy to this term, and displays ads perceived relevant to the content of the page, based on the terms that have been bid on. Even though the page might be more relevant to "Islamic terror", if no one is bidding on that term, no ads for "Islamic terror" get displayed. It keeps going until it finds something that (theoretically!) makes sense.
It's all automated but you can prevent your ad from being displayed where you don't want or particular ads you don't want on your site, but you have to be somewhat specific about this, so it's not a good catch-all.

In line with what RobertB just posted, read this:
http://arewelumberjacks.blogspot.com/2009/12/theres-ad-for-that.html
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Q_4mbCuV7QE/SzwkDr0AqEI/AAAAAAAAHJ0/MWlRDACCTbU/s400/Screen+shot+2009-12-30+at+11.07.16+PM.png
Automated ad placement is the way of the future. Sure we can argue the benefits and liabilities all day long, but at this point you really can't blame an advertiser for where their ads end up.
Another thing, since this thread popped up and I went over to see what all the hubbub was over on islamicawakening.com I've noticed that some of the spam in my Gmail spam box references "Islam" and "Muslims" in the subject line (its still the same ads for Viagra and penis enlargement ... which actually makes more sense if you figure those jihadists need to be ready to service 72 virgins for eternity).
That's what I call EXTREME PREJUDICE!
Tiger: "Major! Major!"
Major Payne: "What is it boy?"
Tiger: "There's a monster in my closet!"
*boy and Major walk up the stairs to Tigers room*
Major: "He in there boy?" *points to closet*
*Tiger nods*
*Major unlocks his .45 1911 and proceeds to empty the whole magizine into the door of the closet*
*Woman comes running into the room*
Woman: "What happened?!?!?!"
Tiger: "Major Payne just terminated the evil monster with extreme prejuiced! I love you Major..."
HAHAHA. That's a great movie.
Regardless, Progressive Insurance was started and run by a progressive. If you like your freedom, I suggest you watch where a companies political viewpoints align. And where they donate and support. Progressives are the same as Democrats, Liberals, Communists, and so on. The name just changes every so often to fool people. They all have the same goal. Complete control of our country. Look at England, China, Australia, France, the U.N.(not a country) all have "progressive" agendas.
