They try to fire a 9mm with a 2mm pinfire.

Cool footage, especially later in the video when they shoot a .22lr.

I am curious whether they are using junk 9mm ammo. When the primer fires, it shoots backwards out of the cartridge before ignites the powder. It looks like the primer pockets may be loose, but I have never fired a 9mm like they did.

The neck tension on a bullet is way more than on a primer, so it will always blow out first.

Yep, pretty cool footage for sure and a great comparison with the rim fire. I’ve always known the case moves faster away from the bullet given the weight disparity between the two, when ignited outside of a chamber, but did not give the primer popping out much thought. It definitely makes sense though!

Ever seen someone throw a live round into a fire, or better yet seen the video of a pallet of ammo being burned to demonstrate unchambered ignitions?

No bullets needed. Fired off a few primed cases in revolvers and they back out too.
