I really love my dogs, but...

My dogs sleep about 16-20 hours a day. They have their food prepared for them. They eat a well balanced meal twice a day, 24/7/365, with snacks in between. These meals and snacks are provided at no cost to them. They visit the Dr. once a year for checkups, and again during the year if any medical needs arise. For this medical plan they pay nothing, and nothing is required of any of them in return for this care. They live in a nice neighborhood in a house that is much larger than they need, but they are not required to do any upkeep nor pay for any utilities. If one of them makes a mess, someone else cleans it up...again at no charge. They have a choice of warm, safe, luxurious places to sleep. They receive these accommodations absolutely free. They live like royalty and they have no expenses whatsoever. All of their costs are picked up by others who go out and earn a living every day.

I was just thinking about all this and suddenly it hit me like a brick in the head...

Holy SHIT! My dogs are democrats!

Dogs take after there owners usually. Sooooo whats going on? You got something you ain't been telling us? I mean, you trained them right?

J/K had to.

Hmmm, interesting perspective. Are they hunting dogs, because I would think that would disqualify them as Demos.

Technically, I guess they would be classified as hunting dogs. They're Jack Russel Terriers. We call em Yard Sharks.

They mostly just hunt for a warm lap to lay on.

BTW...I didn't come up with that. I stole it from an email. Just thought it was funny and described my dogs pretty much perfectly.

Hmmmmm. I think mine are basically Independent, although I wonder occasionally. The little one does a good job of watching the neighborhood goings-on through the front window, alerting the larger one to suspicious activity, and does his damndest to catch every rabbit he can sink his teeth into even if it means running out the front door after being given less than half a chance. The big one has shown in the past that he recognizes that his role is that of self-propelled security to include the mechanical restraint of someone not where they should be. So I'm willing to say they have a meaningful role. Now, if they could just feed themselves and clean up the yard, I'd be rich from cloning them.

It is an interesting point of view.

However, dogs are man's best friend, Democrats aren't!

Well said.

Well, I have to admit the Terriers love a good hunt for anything...small, large, doesn't matter. But, I count that as more along the lines of recreation for them...again, basically provided by someone or at something else's expense.

Seriously...so they go out and chase dear or kill a chipmunk. What good does that do me? It's just fun for them.

I suppose it doesn't matter. I enjoy having them around.

Oh, that is a fantastic analogy. As I was reading it I kept thinking "they sound like welfare/public housing recipients".

I agree with all that has been said. Mine are absolute kings and queens of the house. Food, Filtered water, Lovin's and cuddleins, and a dry place to sleep (ok, on the bed, sometimes under the covers).

All for free.

But they do provide an invaluable service to me. They barck like mad if someone comes to the door. And just big enough to make someone think twice or thrice about entering. THAT to me is service.

I wuv my puppily wuppilies.

My Labs provide services and catch birds, so I consider those jobs to pay for they're food. Plus, they're pro gun, so I know mine aren't democrats!

yep same here, although the little one (Lhasa Apso) does next to nothing except give out a billion kisses, but expects her belly rubbed for it.
I basically consider her a hooker dog.
she does like to hunt rabbits on walks though.

My english setter on the other hand works hard hunting birds, being loyal, and listens to commands.

both are pro gun and enjoy staring at the open safe with me as well as hunting.

we took the little one out pheasant hunting (she stayed in the truck) but loved to play with the birds in the bed of the truck when we got back, so she did her part![Beer]

At least the dogs are glad to see you, are grateful for what they get and don't demand more and don't bite the hands that feed them.

Cannot say that about Democrats.

J,
I think after that last haircut she she was rockin, scratching her belly is the least you can do her hahaha.

Oh man, my dog is great. Whenever he sees a "stranger" approaching he gives one bark, then postures and starts doing a low growl until I say, "stop". It was never a trained thing. He just does it naturally. To anyone he knows, he's just a butterball. Unfortunately, he does not get to sleep on the bed as my wife and I reserve that right. But he is pretty much royalty on everything else! lol. He doesn't really hunt but he doesn't mind running around the feild while I hit clays and stuff.

Want to know who your best friend really is?

Take your dog and your wife and lock them both in the trunk of your car.....

Wait one hour and then let them both out..

Observe their reactions. Which one is actually happy to see you?

There you go.

LMAO!

yeah it was pretty bad!

but worry not I took a trip to wal-mart bought me some doggy clippers and she looks pretty damn good now.
Basically it was going to cost about $200 a year just for dog grooming, and that is letting it get long before taking her in...so I spent $35, plus my time and the saved money will go toward gun/ammo purchases![Beer]

I actually did pretty good with the clippers, I figure I will get better with practice[Coffee] and sorry guys I am not planning on doing dog grooming.

You'd have to ask her to post the video for you; as you wouldn't be alive to do it yourself!

My mental image is that of Medusa emerging from a dark hole, hissing and shooting lightning bolts out of her eyes while she reaches over, grabs you, and squeezes you out like an orange. Follow that with throwing you like a stick into something large, hard, and immovable. Somewhere in there she tears off your kiwis. If hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, can you image one locked in a trunk for an hour????

Two words: DEATH WISH. (A messy, painful one!) And juries being what they are, she'd never get convicted...

if we are going to use that perspective, I have a extreme liberal dog and a extreme conservative dog.

the little one gets everything handed to her, the english setter works for his during the season!

Remember, dogs are the other other white meat so in case SHTF you have some fresh meat for a couple days...
