View Full Version : Air Show in COS Saturday and Sunday (9-24 and 9-25)
Looks like a bunch of cool WWII warbirds, some modern stuff, and some aerobatic demos. It's not well advertised, so I figured I'd post it up for all my fellow aviation nuts.

Got my ticket! And if you didn't know it, there's an awesome museum there, the Museum of WWII Aviation. They have 28 WWII vintage aircraft, and all are in flying condition, and flown frequently. And most of them will either be on display or being flown this weekend.

Why they don't have a sign on Powers just bewilders me.

I heard on the radio the Air National Guard in Aurora and Pueblo are going to be doing maneuvers all weekend so it is supposed to be noisy the next two days.
Dad used to live near Buckley and those F-16s are LOUD!

F-22 shaking the house and zooming around, fly straight up and free falling etc. this afternoon.
Quite the show from my back deck.
I usually have a good view.
If you go tomorrow, be prepared for an epic traffic jam. It normally takes me 45 minutes to get to the airport. Today it took two hours and 45 minutes. We watched half the show from the car.

Things for me were fine. But we were going about 250 kts.

Once you work on planes long enough, the romance wears off. I didn't see any military aircraft today. I heard F-16's but they were over Stone City area of Fort Carson. They have some kind of mock up village they play war games at. Nothing flew over the house.

Definitely best seen from the show grounds. Anything outside will be a distant second best. They fly low and close, but only if you’re on the flight line.

Been working around and on airplanes since before I was 10. Still cool.

From what I saw from the air, pull over on Powers between Peak Innovations Pkwy and Bradley. Some of the planes will fly over, but not all.
We saw a lot of people in that area.

Says the guy who has more presses then dillon.
Tried to go Saturday, but the traffic was impossible. So today I got here about 7:45 by God! Got parked in a H/C lot, and rode in via golf cart shuttle. Got my chair posted right up against the hot ramp fence.
Damned sideways photo, sure wasn't made that way.....

Very cool Ron! Is that the Grumman F3F behind you?
I never thought any of those survived.
More pictures please and have a good time!

Mirrored too, you need to turn off mirroring when you're not taking your twitter buff pics... :)

Yeah, sorry, I made the post sitting on the ramp, didn't have time to fawk with editing. Phone screen is a bitch to see in the sunlight anyway. I'll work on more photos, after all the aches and pains subside.
And yes, that's the F3F Flying Barrel, BEAUTIFUL little biplane! They say there's only 20 left in flying condition, and this one looks better than new.
Most of my photos are on the Nikon, I used my phone for videos. Gotta download 'em to the PC.

You can do that? I just edit them and reverse it, that's really easy.

We saw a lot of people in that area. Thanks for the advice Hoser. We found a quiet undeveloped neighborhood around where you mentioned just in time to see you drop [emoji97], stayed until the end and then beat feet to Rudy's for some real BBQ. Great day, great show, great weather [emoji106]
Was that your C-130 Hoser? Wondered if you might have been involved!

Yup. Got back from the middle east and started playing with MAFFS right after.
Well, I've got an assload of photos, but of course they all need to be resized before I can post them here. What a PITA.....

I didn’t go but I am glad that there are people who are willing to spend the money to restore and keep the warbirds whole and flying! More and more variants are being rescued and flown every year. Wonderful!!
Great video! Lovely birds! I really need to visit that museum.
Those old round engines just don't like to be bothered.....
