You are correct. What we are seeing is the result of two and sometimes three generations of people being raised without the benefit of a responsible adult role model, especially a male role model. When these kid?s moms are called out for the bad choices they made, the first thing the kids hear is ?It?s not fair! It?s not my fault!? When the kids get to court, that?s what they parrot. Unfortunately, the court agrees with them. The man who had his face smashed and society at large are left to bear the brunt.

Banishment is an interesting form of punishment. Historically it was reserved for only the most severe offenses. Those where the accused individual had committed a crime so heinous that society felt they had no capacity to judge the crime and judgement should be left to whatever god(s) the society believed they were accountable to.

Here we have an example where we, as a society has taken God out of our values and societal contract, and also have failed to hold individuals accountable for their actions.
