You'll need a license to purchase a firearm.
"The City and County of Broomfield is set to become the first Colorado community to mandate potential customers take a firearms course before a gun can be purchased - a requirement even more stringent than what is currently required to hold a concealed carry permit.
Ordinance 2192 would require a 10-day waiting period prior to the sale of firearms and "proof of education/competence with firearms.""
The incessant creep of leftism.
One of the criteria is "competency... (in) mental health resources".
Because you gotta be nuts to want an icky gun.
We should demand certified competency of government officials and administrators in constitutional law and civil rights. No certification by a large bipartisan board, no more job.

Watch the video. Both of the women making comments were wearing nice, new Moms Demand Action shirts.

I wish these idiots had enough common sense to do a simple test of changing the word firearm to “vote”, or speak in public.

They don't think it's a right, so they don't think that's a valid comparison. At all.

I'm assuming this only applies to guns purchased at locations within the city of Broomfield as they have no say over what happens in other cities? So just go to Westminster and buy your gun.
Though I do have to say that when I bought my Howa 1500 rifle at Sportsman's Warehouse this past spring they did have to confirm with their head office that it was OK to sell to me because I had a Boulder address so I would guess some stores might not sell to you.

I was actually wondering this same thing. Besides Jax’s (which prolly supports this) what do we have for gun stores? Shoot Indoors which I think will do a transfer and Broomfield Pawn.. I’m sure there are some home based guys. We don’t have any freedom loving shops like Ark, Damage Factory, etc…
I’m getting real close to packing it up..

Hammer, meet nail.
On their way to going full Venezuela.
I'm going to have to use that... lol
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and my dad left Venezuela when Exxon wanted to start paying him in Bolivars, instead of Dollars.
They nationalized the Oil industry soon after, and here we are, Venezuela (where I was born) is now the shithole of earth.

Maybe a bright side?
A renaissance of tactical training in Colorado? I know they mean it as a block to gun ownership, but they are in effect forcing us into “gun ghettos” where we have to hang out together. Reality shows that you don’t need training to defend yourself with a gun, and it adds a hurdle, but I would laugh my butt off if this lead to more ranges, more ‘gun jobs’ and a tighter sense of community…
Bruen should be able to knock this out. Where are the gun groups, or are they focusing on AWB and mags now?
We should all be going to their meetings. Must be 100 of us that could show up at their meeting in January?

-JohnWe tried that when Colorado passed the mag limit and private transfer laws. In that case, even most to the state's Sheriffs showed up to oppose it along with more than standing room only crowds in opposition. It doesn't matter how many people show up.

There is a group of citizens and lawyers meeting at Frolic brewery (Zuni and Midway) on Monday evening at 7pm. Anyone is welcome to attend.
Will be discussing comments for the second reading of the ordinance on Jan. 10
Talked with the guys at Broomfield Pawn today and they passed the info onto me. Figured they would be in the know and on the front line here.

That means, anyone with a CO ccw should be exempt from this. Since training, of some kind is required.

A lot easier to go up against a local city counsel though than a state house.

My wife is from Caracas. Her father was a sales executive for Mobile oil. It is so bad now she won’t even go back to see her 100 year old grandmother. Too, dangerous esp. since she does not have a Venezuelan passport anymore since she is a US citizen now.
If only FFLs in the entire would refuse to sell guns / ammo / magazines to any Police departments / officers (private sales to officers) that are part of the departments that will enforcer these laws...
I think the PDs would have a much different opinion if they cant get guns /ammo / mags... they wouldnt enforce this crap if their butts were on the line. So yes, blame the PDs and officers who will enforce this..

Do police departments even need to go through FFLs to get there arms?

Yes, a few PD's in NoCo used Jensens, when they were on 4th.

Oregon police are complaining about the new law because it seems they are not exempt.
"Every person, including law enforcement officers wishing to obtain a permit, will first have to complete training that does not yet exist," Oregon State Sheriffs' Association Executive Director Jason Myers wrote in a court statement.
Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan told Fox News her department is looking to purchase 10-round magazines for deputies to carry when they are off duty.
"We don’t want them potentially getting a charge in another jurisdiction that could risk their police certification and job so we will look at getting them the lower capacity mags for off duty," Duncan wrote in an email.
Seems like the enforcers don't like when they don't get special treatment...

That’s what I mean about ‘positives’. They pass this law and it is just easier for people to get a CCW, so CCW rates go up…
Lemons, lemonade- I know. If they end up having to build ranges to hold classes would be even more funny.
